California Democratic congressional candidate Amanda Renteria lied on her resume about her academic All-American credentials as a softball player at Stanford.

“Awarded Stanford Scholar-Athlete, Arthur Ashe Scholar-Athlete, and Academic All-American” reads a copy of Renteria’s resume obtained by The Daily Caller. The former Debbie Stabenow chief of staff and Dianne Feinstein staffer listed the “Academic All-American” distinction in the “Education” section of her resume.

Stanford’s official all-time list of Academic All-Americans does not list Renteria. Stanford softball’s 2013 record book (p. 25-26) lists the team’s three all-time academic All-Americans (Sarah Beeson in 2002, Missy Penna in 2009 and Alissa Haber in 2010). Renteria is not listed.

The Democrat’s campaign recently acknowledged that Renteria was not an academic All-American and changed facts on its website about Renteria’s past to scrub its original “academic All-American” claim.

The updated version deleted the “Academic All-American” claim and instead asserts that Renteria “qualified as an All America Scholar Athlete by the National Fast-Pitch Coaches Association in Softball.”

Stanford softball’s 2013 record book (p. 24) lists the team’s all-time National Fast-Pitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Scholar-Athletes. Renteria does not appear on the list. However, NFCA records reportedly do not date back to when Renteria graduated from college in 1997, so the Renteria campaign’s NFCA claim remains unconfirmed.

The Renteria campaign did not return multiple requests for comment.
