Thread: Arriving in New Hampshire, Ted Cruz attacks Rubio on 'amnesty'

Ted Cruz spared no time going after Marco Rubio on immigration, telling a crowd in New Hampshire on Tuesday that Rubio promised Florida voters “over and over and over again” to oppose amnesty only to join the Gang of 8 once elected

Cruz charged that Rubio wanted the spotlight by siding with “Barack Obama and Chuck Schumer” and implied it was a bid for campaign money from lobbyists and corporate interests that want “cheap labor.

Cruz reminded the audience that he has been endorsed by Jeff Sessions and Steve King, his national co-chair, has been “leading the fight against amnesty and saying, ‘You know what, in every one of those fights, Ted was in the fox hole right next to me and it was Marco in the fox hole with Harry Reid and Chuck Schumer shooting at us.’

His comments came in context of a question from a woman who said Rubio had “slanted” Cruz’s work on an amendment to the 2013 Senate legislation. Cruz had supported more work permits, a stance he’s reversed. PolitiFact sorts out the Rubio-Cruz immigration war.

Rubio stressed repeatedly in Iowa last week that he never supported amnesty.

When did Jeff Session endorse Cruz? I can't find anything other than he hasn't committed to either. Unless there is something happening today, this is not true.

He hasn't endorsed him officially as a candidate. He either misspoke or the writer of the article took what he said out of context, which I believe it was probably the later because Sessions did speak in favor of Cruz in his attempt to stop the gang of eight bill.

Whoa, you're jumping the gun big time. The article did not annotate that comment as a direct quote from Cruz.

You sure seem to be quick at accusing folks of being a liar.

The only reason to call him a liar is if the comment was a direct quote. Unfortunately journalist misrepresent what was actually said frequently. Since this was not a direct quote, I choose to believe it's a flub by the writer. It is possible Cruz spoke in a manner that left the writer thinking he said he was endorsed by Sessions. In the worst case scenario Cruz accidently misspoke, but that doesn't make him a liar.

There must be a video somewhere and perhaps it will turn up.

I concluded on December 15 during the GOP Debate that Ted Cruz is a liar when he lied on national television to 18 million viewers about his past support for legalization of illegal aliens and when he lied about his election forms and said "I forgot" to report the Goldman Sachs and Citibank loans on his financial disclosure report, and when asked about his Canadian citizenship he lied and said "I didn't know".

He lies about his Supreme Court record, calls it "fighting for the Constitution and liberty", when his cases were:

1. cheating poor people out of their Texas Medicaid benefits (he lost this case 9-0)
2. cheating Latino US citizens out of the voting rights during Texas redistricting (he won this case 6-3 with scathing comments)
3. enforcing excessive sentencing and death penalty cases (he won some, lost some)

When Americans think about "fighting for our Constitution and liberty", this is not what we're talking about.

His whole life is a fraud in that he does one thing and misrepresents it as something else. We've had quite enough of that, thank you.
