Asked to work, hire, transport illegals

This is my story from yesterday.

The interview went real well and the lady was all up for bringing me on the farm and then it took a bad turn. Seems one of my responsibilities would have been overseeing the other employees. That would not have been a problem, but she offered up that they were all illegal and I had to pick them up and drop them off because they can't drive. I could not believe my ears. This woman just asked me to commit a crime and it was nothing for her to ask this of me. She has an apartment complex that she has partnered up with the owner on. She puts these apartment in her name and fills them with illegals. I would have ended up living in an apartment complex with illegals that I managed. Try to explain that one to INS.

So we got trafficking of illegals
Aiding illegals
Knowingly hiring or aiding in the hire of illegals

I told her I could not do that. I can not aid in the hire or transport of illegals. I do not break the law and what your doing is highly illegal. Once she realized that I am not pro illegal immigration she was not so nice. She told me that if I report her that she will see to it that I do nothing in this industry ever again. The she says, "I have your resume, I know all I need to know about you". EEK!

How do I deal with something like that? I mean come on. You can not ask an employee to break the law.

All she knows is what is on a piece of paper. Really, think about what she knows. Former employers... So what. Current address maybe... If you can relocate, she has nothing.

If she is that type of person, she will give your Identity and Social Security information to the illegals. I hope you didn't give her that.

I think you are already done for and the only way to protect yourself, may be reporting her. It will take ICE time to act so she may not even suspect you by the time a crackdown happens to her.

Do what you think is best. I'm sorry you got mixed up in that.

She has my email, home address "My in-laws address, phone number. She does not have my SSN#

I think she's just saying that because she's afraid you might call ICE on her. Chances are she won't do a thing with your info.

Report her to them Anonymously.

Like I said, it will take time for them to go after her. I'm sure she has had many employees that just up and quit so she would suspect them too. Really, she was looking for a replacement when you ran across her. I'm sure she's had employees that have left on unhappy terms too. People around her that would report her because she upset them, even tenants.

I think it is an idle threat but it is something to consider before making the report.

Oh I am sure she got rid of her workers after I walked out of her place. She was shaking in her boots. That is why she made the threats. I am sure she is not stupid enough to try and do anything to me because I am not one to take things like that very well.

They owned like three small businesses and she said she prefers to hire illegals because they work really well and they are easy on the budget. What a jerk. I told my brother all about it and he reported her, but they have to catch her in the act and I am sure she is doing some house cleaning right about now.

I'm not the back-down type either.

You just never know when a report will turn into something else.

Make the report, tell what you know and leave the rest to the professionals, that have recieved other reports which will build the case.

When I reported someone I did it on the FBI website and received a call from ICE and the New York State Dept. of labor immedietly. I would also contact the Dept. of Labor in your State, you might also contact OSHA as they control workplace safety and there is always the IRS. I would make her life very difficult.

Dixie, you call this woman a cow, I would quietly call her something else.

Americancowgirl, I am certainly NOT the back down type either. Call this woman on her bluff, she will pay dearly for her illegal behavior and hopefully get in an enormous amount of trouble, she deserves 100%, and more, of what our justice system can offer.

As for her having your personal info, and threatening you, call her on that too when you report her, don't be shy or afraid of this slimey traitor.

I think if your story is real, you should take the job, pick everyone of them up and take them to the authority's. Then the government should put them to work digging a trench or moat all along the Mexican & USA boarder and the dirt from it should be moved to New Orleans to raise the levee... two bird one stone.

What nerve! Not only is that woman a traitor, but she also threatened you. Report her to ICE and the FBI like wmarincic suggested.

email or Write and tell her that if any of your ID ends up stolen, she will be the first one the law will point their finger at as suspect.

Well for one thing ...why would you come here and post about it? I would go right to the authority's. He or she starts with this is my story....which makes it feel like a story not a actual happening. Plus he some how knows so much about this person, whom he is just met...she has this farm and 3 businesses, she's in with this guy who has these duplexes and so on. It just sounds made up.

I agree with Dixie, AND, if you feel threatened, you want to have a restraining order placed on her, and anyone that works for or is related to her. That alone will tell the police that you feel threatened by her. Write everything she said down in a journal, time, date, names, address, etc.

Then if something does come about from this. You will have it documented.

This is big part of what we're trying to stop. Mexico operates through treats and intimidation and it's creeping north.

We need to rid ourselves of illegal aliens but we also have to stomp out all those that support them with this kind of third world behavior.

First, she has nothing on you and second, she'll have no idea who turned her in.

I think you meant "threats" not "treats" cribster. BUT yes, Mexico does operate through "treats." Treats of remittances from our country to their's. LOL

Sometimes our posters, particularly the new ones would like advise on how others would handle it. No problem there. WHY would you assume its made up?

I would not be surprised to find both going on at the border. Unfortunately, Mexico is still closer to a third-world country where it is commonplace to sell both, no matter their airs.

Chicklets the gum, kids sell it to the people waiting in cars to go thru the inspections at the border,

This story is absolutly true. The state that this happened in was Ohio and it was on a horse farm. I contacted my brother and told him about the situation and he contacted the place. My brother is aware of what to do in these cases and has in many cases contacted ICE. He did so in this case as well. I was fearful of these people posting my personal info on the internet and damaging my rep in some way, but I truly feel that they are more concerned with their situation. I have did not hear one word from these people since my brother contacted them. My brother is also trained in law enforcement.

The reason these people felt so darn comfortable telling me this was because I had driven very far from home for this position and they probably thought that since I worked in the industry I would be comfortable hiring, overseeing, and transporting these people around. I am not comfortable with it and when they realized that I was true patriotic American that was not willing to commit what they seen as a small dishonesty "which is not IMHO", they did become very cobative and wanted me gone ASAP.

I have worked in the equine industry for a long time and know many people that do it honestly and are not willing to go against American laws and provide illegals with housing and money. I applude these people for doing business the American way.

This is a very true story. There are people out there that could care less about America or Americans and a lot of them are Americans and it sickens me that someone would think I would have turned a blind eye to this.

The reason why I knew so much about the apartment is because I was supposed to be staying at this aprtment and all of the bills were to be in the name of farm owner and she said it is that way for all of her employees. She said that the apartment owner houses many of her employees. With the fact beeing that all of her employees were illegal , I think it is safe to say that they are housing illegals. I woud have been the only legal working American on the farm other than the farrier who is not put up in housing.

This lady started talking and I justlet her keep digging. I asked her why she did not get legal seasonal workers with visas and she said it was not worth her while. She would have to insure them and there were taxes involved. She said she could not get an American to work as hard as the mexicans. I did not ask what she was paying them, but I ma sure it was less then what I was beeing offered.

That is when I told her that I could not be involved and that is when she said goodbye, get off the property.

Ameicancowgirl, there are plenty of those kind of employers, my mother works for one of them, a large operation dry cleaners. He even provides rental housing for some of his illegal employees too.

I hope you can keep track of this situation and see them get raided!! :twisted:
