NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – In the wake of demonstrations and riots in Baltimore, police there put a warning out to law enforcement officers across the country.
The Criminal Intelligence Unit within Baltimore City police reported the department received credible information that violent gangs, including the Crips, Bloods, and Black Guerilla Family, have entered into a partnership to kill police officers.
The threat came as protests turned violent in Baltimore on Monday following Freddie Gray’s death. Gray died due to a spinal injury after being arrested earlier this month, and authorities have yet to explain how.

Media reported gangs, which are prominent across Baltimore, called a truce amid the chaos.
However, news of the allegedly credible threat toward police is being disseminated from Middle Tennessee’s biggest city, Nashville, to smaller nearby cities.
The warning from Baltimore police urges officers to take appropriate precautions.
“It is frightening for the public. It is a concern for the police, I’m sure,” Ashland City police chief Marc Coulon told News 2.
He said he told his men to be extremely cautious and alert.
“Be alert. Don’t overreact and be safe,” Chief Coulon added.
While Ashland City doesn’t have a gang problem, Coulon says the national warning is sobering for anyone who wears the badge.
“I’m going to take it seriously,” he said. “I’m advising my people to take it seriously.”
The Metro Police Department declined to talk about the warning, saying all their officers have been briefed about the situational awareness.
The president of the Fraternal Order of Police said the warning was very concerning but declined further comment.
