Thread: Beach Boys in Talks for Trump Inauguration

California surf-rock legends The Beach Boys have been asked to perform at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony in January and are currently weighing the offer, according to a report.

“They have not made a decision,” a source close to the band told the New York Post‘s Page Six this week.

The iconic rock band is currently on tour. A review of their tour schedule shows the band has a busy January, however January 20’s Inauguration Day is clear. The Beach Boys are currently scheduled to perform January 21 in Emporia, Virginia.

Founding member Mike Love told the Post in September that he’d be interested in performing for Trump if he won the election.

“He’s been a friend for a long time,” Love said. “Does that mean I agree with everything he says? No. But . . . if we were asked [to play his inauguration], I’m sure that we would.”

The outlet said representatives from both camps have yet to respond to their report.

If they agree to play the event, the Beach Boys would join teenage opera singer Jackie Evancho, who’s set to sing the National Anthem at the inauguration, and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

Italian opera legend Andrea Bocelli, who was said to have been approached by Trump personally to perform at the inauguration, reportedly backed out after Hillary Clinton supporters launched an aggressive #BoycottBocelli social media campaign.

“Bocelli said there was no way he’d take the gig . . . he was ‘getting too much heat’ and he said no,” a source told Page Six.

Country superstar Garth Brooks faced similar backlash after it was reported that he was approached to perform at the high-profile event.

Maybe we shouldn't be as small as they are, but I think we should support and put our money where are heart is -

That sweet song bird Jackie, the Beach Boys and Toby Keith who I heard yesterday is going to perform, geez with these wonderful artists, who else do you need? It will be a wonderful inauguration!!
