    Blue Dog Democrats

Here's a list of these alleged moderate Democrats. I'd take it with a grain of salt, as it includes Loretta Sanchez and Joe Baca. Still, a lot (but not all) of the Dems who have signed the discharge petition are on it.

We hear about conservatives losing seats to dems, but if you look closer, it's blue dogs winning, not the liberals!

I agree. Although I do go like this when I see Loreta Sanchez's name on that list -- I think it is because she is pro-life or something. But your right. Most of the seats picked up by the Dems were "Lou Dobbs Democrats." Dems who are pro-enforcement as well as against outsourcing. Pat Buchanan explained this very phenomenon on election day, calling them "economic nationalists."

Sure hope you're right. I had heard early on in the Iraq invasion that young vets were coming home and running for political office---but as Democrats! Maybe that's where some of them are coming from.

Many are classified "blue dog" simply because they are pro-life and not much of any other conservative values.

Ok, I went to the link of the Blue Dogs website. I was trying to find out what criteria an incumbent needs to be qualified as a "Blue Dog Democrat." Voting record? Issues voted on? Bills sponsored?

    I could not find it.

So, to me, this so-called "Blue Dog Democrat" group is highly suspect. How does one get their name in there? Just by applying? Ohhhhh, all the liars will come out -- just for votes. Is there some verifiable, statistical data that a Dem must have to pass muster? WHAT IS THE MUSTER??

I don't buy it. Their website can all be lies and phony members -- just for votes. I NEED PROOF -- I WANT TO SEE THE ISSUES THEY HAVE VOTED/SPONSORED AND HOW THEY VOTED.

Many are fiscal conservatives, such as Jim Cooper from TN. That and pro-life are probably the two biggest criteria.

The only reason Thompson is considered Blue Dog is because of his second amendment stance. Other than that he votes yes on every spending bill thata comes down the pike and on illegal immigration he is a nightmare.
