While Senator John McCain (R-AZ) has gained criticism from the right for his occasional support for Barack Obama and scolding of the Tea Party, he made a recent statement that has both parties questioning where he stands with Obama’s foreign policies.
DownTrend reports that Tuesday on Al Jazeera, McCain talked of recent events in Fallujah, Iraq. He said that, during the second battle of Fallujah, our country lost 96 great soldiers. In addition to that, some 600 were wounded.
Now, Fallujah has fallen to Al Qaeda forces.
“That is an abject abysmal failure of Maliki but also the United States of America.,” McCain said, “because we didn’t leave a residual force.”
During his 2008 presidential campaign, McCain said that he would leave forces in Iraq as long as necessary to bring stability to that region.
When asked by the Al Jazeera host if President Obama is responsible for the fall of Fallujah, McCain replied, “Absolutely.”
