Texas Governor Greg Abbott will begin to use charter buses to ship illegal immigrants to Washington, D.C., as part of his strategy for the overwhelming influx of illegal immigrants.
Governor Abbott held a press conference today concerning Texas’ border security efforts in response to the Biden admin’s decision to drop Title 42 at the border on May 23.

Joe Biden announced that he plans to drop a Trump-era order blocking asylum seekers at the U.S. border on May 23.
Title 42 was used by President Trump in 2020 to expel migrants seeking asylum during the Covid pandemic.

According to Fox News national correspondent Bill Melugin, Texas Governor Greg Abbott will begin using up to 900 charter buses to ship illegal immigrants to Washington D.C.

“To help local officials whose communities are being overwhelmed by hordes of illegal immigrants who are being dropped off by the Biden administration, Texas is providing charter buses to send these illegal immigrants who have been dropped off by the Biden administration to Washington, DC,” Governor Abbott announced in his press conference.
“We are sending them to the United States Capitol, where the Biden administration will be able to more immediately address the needs of the people that they are allowing to come across our border,” Gov. Abbott continued.
Gov. Abbott also announced to inspect vehicles as they cross the international points of entry into Texas effective immediately as part of his strategy to curtail the flow of drug cartel smuggling, immigrants, and drugs.
“Those two strategies are in addition to announcing the following actions to further deter illegal immigrants, including deploying boat blockades at appropriate regions in the Rio Grande River, deploying razor wire at low water crossings in high traffic areas, creating container blockades to drive people away from low water crossings,” Abbott added.

“Additionally, the National Guard will begin its first phase of mass migration rehearsals tomorrow to begin the preparation for what we are anticipating to be a potential mass influx of people coming across the border. All troopers and specially trained National Guard will be equipped with riot gear in case of potential caravan violence, like what we have all seen occur in Mexico as the caravans were making their way toward the United States,” Abbott continued.

In the Texas tradition of showdowns, Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott last week told the federal government that he was ready, willing and able to bus every illegal immigrant dropped in a Texas town straight to Washington, D.C.
Somebody blinked, and it was not Abbott, according to new reports.
Late last week, the Texas Division of Emergency Management sent buses to the communities that have been targeted by the Biden administration as dropping-off points for illegal immigrants once border facilities are overwhelmed.

Officials found something had changed since Abbott sounded off.
“In the last 24 hours, TDEM has dispatched buses to areas where communities have expressed concerns about the federal government dropping off migrants and has the capability to send as many as is necessary to fulfill the requests from mayors and county judges,” said Seth Christensen, chief of media and communications for TDEM, according to the Daily Mail.

“From the [Rio Grande Valley] to Terrell County, a large majority of the communities that originally reached out for support through this operation have now said that the federal government has stopped dropping migrants in their towns since the governor’s announcement on Wednesday,” he said.

That represented a major difference from the aftermath of Abbott’s announcement last week when he said, “Overnight there were multiple communities in the Rio Grande Valley asking us to provide buses for them, maybe even planes.”

Although the legal foundation of Abbott’s order is uncertain, because the federal government has supreme authority in immigration matters, the value of the plan will be understood once Title 42 expires, according to Fox News.
Title 42 is a public health law that allowed immigration officials to turn back many illegal immigrants on the grounds that they could spread COVID-19 into the U.S. The Biden administration has said it will end enforcement of Title 42 on May 23, leading many to predict even more massive waves of illegal immigrants to spill over the border into America.
“I think it’s going to coincide very much with what’s going on with Title 42 when Biden lets a couple million more people cross over the border — not let them, but invites them,” Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said, according to Fox.

Paxton said Abbott’s plan is not gesture or gimmick, but a serious response to a difficult situation the Biden administration has allowed to grow worse.
“The governor has a lot to deal with as it relates to the border,” Paxton said. “And he’s got a federal government that is betraying the state of Texas, betraying the American people, and I think (Gov. Abbott) is just trying to figure out what he can do to protect the people of Texas.”

On Monday, Abbott met with the Texas Border Sheriffs Coalition in El Paso and indicated he has no plans to back down.
“Texans demand and deserve an aggressive, comprehensive strategy to secure our border — not President Biden’s lackluster leadership,” Abbott said in a statement.
“As the federal government continues to roll back commonsense policies that once kept our communities safe, our local law enforcement has stepped up to protect Texans from dangerous criminals, deadly drugs and illegal contraband flooding into the Lone Star State.”

What were first dubbed a publicity stunt by The White House, has quickly turned into a continuous headliner by Abbott to counter federal immigrant policies amid the current border crisis.
The first bus filled with migrants left a detention center in Donna, Texas on Tuesday and arrived in San Antonio.

The second bus of migrants departed from McAllen, Texas on Wednesday.
Both buses were scheduled to make stops in Austin and San Antonio before arriving in the nation’s capital.

Abbott said he would continue to send buses until President Joe Biden reverses his immigration policies.
“I will not allow our border to be overrun by criminals,” Abbott said during a press conference last week. “Texas is doing what the federal government refuses to do.”
Biden has so far remained mum on the issue, though White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told reporters that the president was aware of Gov. Abbott’s plan.
“We are not going to comment on a state-by-state effort,” Psaki said. “The president is, of course, aware of what’s happening in Texas.”

This latest move by Abbott has been widely criticized by Democrats and immigrant rights groups as expected.
“This is not who we are as Americans,” Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-Texas) tweeted Wednesday night. “Gov. Abbott is endangering lives with this cynical stunt.”

Abbott has defended his decision, saying that the migrants will be taken care of and that their journey will be “safe and clean.”
“These families coming to our nation’s capital are not criminals,” he said. “They are not drug smugglers or human traffickers.”

The governor added that the migrants would be dropped off at bus stations and not released into the city.
“We will continue to provide updates as we have them,” Abbott said. “This is a humanitarian crisis, and Texas will not turn its back on those in need.”

(Natural News) A second bus from Texas carrying illegal aliens arrived in Washington, D.C., less than a day after the first one reached its destination. The buses loaded with illegal migrants were part of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s efforts to address the crisis at the southern border.
Based on footage captured by Fox News, the second bus arrived at the federal capital at around 4:30 a.m. on April 14. The first bus reached D.C. at 8 a.m. on April 13 and dropped off its passengers between Union Station and the Capitol. The second one dropped off passengers at First Street – which was a block away from where the first bus stopped.
U.S. Capitol Police officers asked questions to the illegal aliens from the second bus, who were then allowed to continue to Union Station several minutes later. On the other hand, two officers believed to be from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) processed the arrivals on the first bus the day before. Abbott told reporters at a press conference in Laredo, Texas that additional migrants will be bused or flown to Washington. This, he said, aims to make the White House and Congress “respond and deal with the same challenges [Texas] is dealing with.”
“There’s one thing that is perfectly clear, and that is the Biden administration and a lot of leaders in Congress have no idea about the chaos they have caused by their open border policies. And they refuse to come down and see first hand and talk to the people who are really most adversely affected. If they’re not going to come to the border, I’m going to take the border to them.”

Sister Sharlet Wagner, executive director of the charity’s Newcomer Network, told NTD TV: “Most are choosing to move on [because] most of them do have family or friends in the place where they really want to go. [But] we’re happy to help them if they want to stay here.”
Lone Star State receiving “no help” from D.C. on the border crisis

Abbott first announced the plan to bus migrants to D.C. during an April 6 press conference. He defended the measure as necessary due to Texas being “overwhelmed by hordes of illegal immigrants who are being dropped off by the Biden administration. Transporting them to the federal capital would allow the federal government “to more immediately address the needs of the people that they are allowing to come across our border,” the Republican governor added.
Luis Alberto, an illegal immigrant who hails from Venezuela, shared his experience with NTD TV. He told the outlet that he was robbed by cartels and Mexican police officers before crossing into the U.S. with other migrants on April 12.
“When we got to Texas, we had nothing because they had taken everything. We heard there was help and a bus to Washington, and there would be someone to facilitate travel – because in Texas, there is no help,” said Alberto.
Jen Psaki, the White House press secretary, told reporters during an April 13 press briefing: “It’s nice the state of Texas is helping them get to their final destination as they await the outcome of their immigration proceedings.”
She added during the briefing, which happened hours after the first bus from Texas arrived, that its migrant passengers “have been processed by Customs and Border Protection and are free to travel.” Psaki earlier dismissed Abbott’s threats to bus illegal aliens to D.C. as a mere “publicity stunt.”

Texas Governor Sends 6th Bus With Illegal Immigrants to Washington

The sixth bus of illegal immigrants who were picked up along the southern U.S. border was sent to Washington, D.C., from Texas on late Sunday night, according to Gov. Greg Abbott’s office.
Footage showed the bus arriving with the unlawful aliens at D.C.’s Union Square on Sunday evening, according to local outlet WUSA-9.
In a statement on Sunday, Abbott, a Republican, confirmed the bus was sent from Texas to Washington and argued it must be done this way due to what he described as the Biden administration’s mismanagement of illegal immigrants pouring in from Mexico.
“The sixth bus transporting a group of unlawful migrants to Washington, D.C. from Texas will be arriving at the nation’s capital today, April 17,” Abbott’s statement said, confirming the bus would drop off the illegal immigrants at Delaware Ave and Columbus Circle. “This busing strategy is part of Governor Abbott’s response to President [Joe] Biden’s ongoing failure to secure the border.”
A fifth bus carrying illegal immigrants also arrived in Washington on Sunday morning, said Abbott’s office in a separate statement.
Earlier this month, the Texas governor started sending buses of illegal immigrants to Washington, drawing both praise and condemnation from different groups. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, also a Republican, has similarly proclaimed that illegal immigrants in his state will be sent to Delaware, President Joe Biden’s home state.

The White House previously dismissed Abbott’s proposal as a “publicity stunt” while saying that he lacks the authority to do so.
“I’m not aware of what authority the governor would be doing that under,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters earlier in April. “I think it’s pretty clear this is a publicity stunt. His own office admits that a migrant would need to voluntarily be transported, and he can’t compel them to because, again, enforcement of our country’s immigration laws lies with the federal government, not a state.”
Meanwhile, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke, a former congressman who is likely to face Abbott later this year in a statewide election, criticized Abbott.
“If Abbott focused on solutions instead of stunts, then Texas could have made some real progress on the issue over the last seven years,” O’Rourke said several weeks ago.
Earlier this month, the Biden administration rescinded Title 42, a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention rule that blocked people from seeking asylum if they were coming from a country that is seeing the transmission of a communicable disease, namely COVID-19. The rule, which was implemented under the Trump administration, is slated to expire on May 23.
Republicans and some Democrats have called on Biden to reinstate the rule, arguing that by letting it expire, even more illegal immigrants will pour across the southern border than in previous years.
