Budweiser to donate $500/goal to Hispanic Scholarship Fund

ST. LOUIS, June 7 /PRNewswire/ -- For each goal scored during the FIFA World Cupâ„¢ that starts this Friday in South Africa, Anheuser-Busch and Budweiser will donate $500 to the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF), up to $100,000.

This is the latest in Anheuser-Busch's longtime support of the Hispanic Scholarship Fund. The company began supporting the HSF in 1982.

"Anheuser-Busch has long appreciated the Latino community, and HSF has been fortunate to have been a partner – through which A-B can give back to their loyal customers," said Frank Alvarez, President and CEO of HSF. "A degree in every U.S. Latino household is the mission of HSF, and we extend our appreciation to A-B for bringing HSF to the world's largest viewing audience at this year's FIFA World Cup."

Alvarez said money from Anheuser-Busch will help support HSF scholars who attend nearly 2,000 colleges and universities in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

"During the past three decades, more than 20,000 students have received an education because of Anheuser-Busch and Budweiser's support of the Hispanic Scholarship Fund," said Margarita Flores, senior director of community relations at Anheuser-Busch and a member of the board of directors for HSF. "Each goal during the tournament will be a reason to cheer because these donations help the HSF deliver support to students who need it the most − students who otherwise could not realize their dream of a college education."

Anheuser-Busch has been the largest corporate contributor in fundraising efforts for HSF, with the company and its 600 wholesalers nationwide contributing more than $24 million since 1982. The Budweiser FIFA World Cupâ„¢ program this summer continues this support.

A running tally of the donations to date will be available at Facebook.com/BudweiserLatino, where readers also can find a link to make an individual donation to the HSF.

Budweiser has been a FIFA World Cupâ„¢ partner since 1986. The 2010 FIFA World Cup is Budweiser's seventh consecutive tournament as a major event sponsor, underscoring the brand's commitment to soccer. Budweiser also is an official sponsor of Major League Soccer and will continue its support of the FIFA World Cup in 2014.

With big names like that behind beer-drinking Latinos, legal and illegal, it's easy to understand why nobody wants to pass tough immigration laws. What corporation wants to lose that market segment that buys their products and generates millions and billions of dollars in profits?

THE leading global brewer, is not concerned with American interests, but global interests. What good for a global brewer, may not be good for America.

Is it any surprise that Anheuser-Busch supports such causes and in fact loves La Raza, MEChA and illegal aliens? I can spell it out in one name....Cindy McCain. I am sure John McNasty McCain prince of illegal aliens is in the background egging her on in the board room.
