Which 'Tea Party' groups are backing Cantor Clone Amnesty Guy Labrador?

I just had a member of Congress tell me that some Tea Party group or groups had emails going around asking people to call Congress to support Raul Labrador for majority leader to replace Cantor!

We are even seeing articles like this one claiming Raul Labrador is the best choice for those Tea Party people that ousted Eric Cantor.

    http://magicvalley.com/news/local/te...a4bcf887a.html

There are several problems with that...

    1. The Tea Party groups made no effort, spent no money, and were not the ones that ousted Eric Cantor with David Brat. It was conservatives in Virginia that revolted.

    2. Raul Labrador used to be an immigration attorney that made a living helping illegal immigrants!

    3. Raul Labrador was quoted in politico last year saying...

"“What I think should happen is for illegal immigrants to come out of the shadows, become legalized in some way and that status could lead in someway to legal residency and citizenship eventually but just the same as everybody else”

We have just received this notice that Glenn Beck is one of the sources putting out the false information that Raul Labrador is some kind of better alternative to Eric Cantor.

    Glenn Beck

They didn’t learn to be humble. They learned to get even. But YOU can do something about it.

‘They didn’t learn to be humble. They learned to get even’: Glenn breaks down the race for House Majority Leader

Thursday, Jun 19, 2014 at 11:45 AM EST

On Thursday, House Republicans will vote to elect House Majority Leader Eric Cantor’s (R-VA) successor. In the wake of his historic primary loss to economics professor David Brat, Cantor will step down from the majority leader post on July 31. House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthey (R-CA) is widely considered to be the frontrunner to replace Cantor, but Congressman Raúl Labrador (R-ID) is making a late charge. On radio this morning, Glenn encouraged anyone within the sound of his voice to call the Capitol Switchboard at 202-334-3121 and make their voice heard.

    Video at the page link:

“Have I given you a number yet? 202-334-3121. It’s the Capitol Hill switchboard,” Glenn said. “They’re supposed to vote today because John Boehner doesn’t want any time to go by.”
Last week, Congressman Louie Gohmert (R-TX) explained Boehner chose to schedule the vote for Thursday because he sought to ensure McCarthy – who is allegedly referred to as Cantor’s “trophy wife” in Washington circles – didn’t face any real threat. The more conservative Labrador, however, threw his hat into the ring at the last minute.
“Now, there is another option that Eric Cantor… and John Boehner don’t want you to be aware of,” Glenn said. “I want you to call the switchboard and ask your [Republican] House of Representatives member… [to support] Raúl Labrador… He’s from Idaho. He is the guy to replace Eric Cantor, not the trophy wife.”
As Glenn explained, Boehner’s rush to get this vote out of the way proves GOP leadership have learned nothing from Cantor’s stunning defeat. The American people are tired of the status quo, and yet Boehner seems to be tone deaf to the sentiment.

“They didn’t learn to be humble,” Glenn said. “They learned to get even.”
When you consider the current political climate, Labrador’s background makes him a good fit for the position. The son of a single mother, Labrador grew up in Puerto Rico and practiced immigration law prior to running for office.
“We’re debating immigration reform, and Kevin McCarthy is all for the reforms. What do you say we get a guy who might be able to withstand [the fight],” Glenn asked. “What do you say? Raul would be a good guy.”

I must agree with you, William. The two anti-amnesty friends I have in Idaho are not fond of Labrador. Then, too, I would vote against anyone Glenn referred to me, too. I wish Steve King was in the running!

(Reuters) - An outspoken Tea Party-backed Republican lawmaker on Friday opened his campaign for the No. 2 leadership post in the House of Representatives against a top deputy of Speaker John Boehner in a bid to boost conservatives' influence in the party.

Raul Labrador of Idaho said he would run for the House Majority Leader job in a special leadership election scheduled for June 19 after Eric Cantor of Virginia announced he was stepping down following his shock primary election defeat on Tuesday to a Tea Party movement activist.

Labrador, 46, will vie against Representative Kevin McCarthy, the third-ranking House Republican, who had emerged as a strong candidate this week after two more-conservative challengers dropped out of the race.

Many of the House's younger, more conservative members have vented frustration with decisions by the current Republican leadership. Labrador's move gives them one of their own to support. The Idaho Republican, a former immigration attorney, was first elected in 2010 on a wave of support from the Tea Party, which advocates for reductions in government spending and taxes and takes establishment Republicans to task for not being conservative enough.

Labrador said he was "stunned" by Cantor's loss to political novice and economics professor David Brat, but said it showed that Americans want change in Washington.

"I want a House Leadership team that reflects the best of our conference. A leadership team that can bring the Republican conference together," Labrador said in a statement. "Americans don’t believe their leaders in Washington are listening and now is the time to change that."

The Puerto Rican-born Labrador, a Mormon, remains an underdog to McCarthy, who as the House Majority Whip, is well-liked, especially among mainstream Republicans, and is known for networking and building relationships with lawmakers.

McCarthy, 49, who represents a district in California's central valley, is responsible for rounding up votes needed to pass legislation. While he has largely kept Boehner's agenda on track in the House, at times he has failed to deliver a majority of the 233 House Republicans on controversial legislation, such as a deal to end a government shutdown last year and increases in the debt limit.

Boehner's reliance on Democratic votes to pass such measures has rankled conservatives and they have demanded a stronger voice in House leadership decisions.

Some lawmakers also view McCarthy as more moderate than Cantor, hailing from a largely Democratic state. With his district heavily dependent on immigrant farm labor, McCarthy has supported immigration reform that grants a path to citizenship for those who entered the United States illegally.

Labrador, who has regularly voted against Boehner's agenda, last year walked out of bipartisan talks on such an immigration plan, which many conservatives view as amnesty for law-breakers. He has said Boehner should lose his speaker's gavel if he pursues immigration reform this year.

Labrador's bid is still a longshot, said Representative Phil Roe, a conservative Republican from Tennessee, because McCarthy already has a lot of votes locked up in a campaign that began on the night Cantor lost his election.

But next Thursday's vote is a secret ballot and some could switch their allegiances. Representative Thomas Massie of Kentucky said that because the leadership election does not coincide with the start of a new Congress, there are no committee assignments to be used as enticements for votes.

Labrador is likely to get some help from outside political groups that have locked horns with Boehner. In Twitter messages, FreedomWorks, a group allied with the Tea Party, and Campaign for Liberty, a group founded by former libertarian congressman Ron Paul, urged support for Labrador.

If McCarthy defeats Labrador for the majority leader job, a vote would be held to fill the majority whip post. Vying for that job are two conservative House Republicans, Steve Scalise of Louisiana and Marlin Stutzman of Indiana, as well as Peter Roskam, a more moderate member from Illinois who serves as McCarthy's chief deputy whip.
