Asked about female cabinet members, Trump proposes Ivanka

When asked what women he would nominate to his cabinet if elected, Donald Trump offered only his daughter’s name.

“Well we have so many different ones to choose,” he said in an interview with First Coast News that was first reported by Buzzfeed. The interview was conducted by First Coast anchor Angelia Savage, who used to work for the mogul at the Trump Organization.

“I can tell you everybody would say, ‘Put Ivanka in, put Ivanka in,’ you know that, right?” Trump added, according to a transcript given to Buzzfeed.

“She’s very popular, she’s done very well, and you know Ivanka very well. But there really are so many that are really talented people — like you, you’re so talented, but I don’t know if your viewers know that,” he said to Savage.

Trump's opponent Hillary Clinton later blasted him for the interview.

“We know a guy with a binder,” she tweeted to Trump, referencing a remark made by 2012 GOP candidate Mitt Romney, who is an unabashed critic of Trump. During a 2012 presidential debate, the former Massachusetts governor mentioned receiving binders of resumes from women seeking jobs with the state.

Not quite sure why I am quivering so much after reading this. For some strange reason, I am not sure if he is being serious and if he is, what cabinet post could he be referring to and what also would qualify her to handle that type of responsibility. How incensed or delighted would anyone be if Hillary was to appoint Chelsea to a cabinet post?


I guess if this turns into something negative, he can have his surrogates tell us he was not serious a few days from now, but it sure sounds like something he would want for her.

If he's serious, I'm sure it would be Secretary of Defense.

It's my personal opinion that none of his children will be involved in the administration. The children have a huge $10 billion corporation to run, that's been hurt by this campaign with the loss of Macy's account, Miss Universe, Golf Tournament in Doral, etc. so they'll need to focus on the business seems to me. I think Trump even addressed that question about his children being involved awhile back and he said no they wouldn't be.

Two months ago you said Macy's was hurting because they dropped Trump. Now you are saying his $10B company has been hurt by this campaign with the loss of Macy's.

Anyway, Macy's is hurting for other reasons and BTW, Macy's is the #2 internet retailer in the country behind Amazon just in case anyone didn't know.

I think you are right though and the kids should not be involved in the administration. Young Don Jr. thinks he has attained enough experience now to run for Mayor of NYC.

I'm tired hearing @ ivanka - daddy's little rich girl isn't even a republican, no experience whatsoever in politics - it is just absurd to even mention her. She has daddy wrapped @ her finger and it has no place in the political field - keep family stuff with family.

There are many experienced female republican politicians that he could choose.

The basis for my statement about Macy's several months ago was the announcement in January 2016 by Macy's that they were closing 40 of their 770 stores, 6 months after Trump announced his candidacy and Macy's dropped his line over his illegal immigration comments.

It would be to Trump's benefit to start throwing @ female republican cabinet members' names; he is polling low with the female voters. A female vp would have been a game changer. pence did nothing to raise his polls. If anything his stance vowing to overturn roe vs wade has further deteriorated Trump's chances of winning the election.

Trump is succumbing to the gop machine pressure which really changes his game. Not the qualities and direction that I favored in him.
