William Gheen: Joyce Bennett Jesus would not be an illegal immigrant because he supports the Ten Commandments which command us not to steal and not to covet our neighbors. Jesus lived without sin or trespass and illegal immigrants are trespassing. While we may forgive them for their trespass, they still have to go home.

The Pope says we need to have housing for the poor. Jesus was basically a Builder. If more Christians would do that, instead of being effete snobs there would be housing for everyone! You can find homes in the Meditteranean that have been in use for many centuries. Plus, those folks were still living in caves in some regions, too, some of them pretty darn nice.

Actually Meditteranean cultures ---including Latin America---have tremendous advantage over many other cultures including Northern Europe--because their time tested building techniques are so good. Stone houses in a balmy Meditteranean climate can last for hundreds and even thousands of years, except for things like earthquakes and volcanoes. The Pantheon in Rome is still in use today---and Pope Francis shoulda just hung out there with his Cardinal buddies-----after 2,000 years.

In my city the Scandinavian immigrants built many homes out of wood, which is what they were used to working with but in the mild and rainy climate many of them developed leaks and rotted away. And in the Depression years and post War building methods got really bad, although the work was easier. In many Western states the early settlers built homes out of the local pine lumber---and the siding and framing dried up and warped and there are lots of abandoned old houses.

So no one should listen to this bullshit that N. Europeans are an arrogant, controlling culture. They didn't live in a Nirvana like Sicily.
