They told everyone MS-13 smuggles drugs and guns but they forgot to mention MS-13's biggest money maker.

60 Minutes just had a good segment on the MS-13 Gang. They have 50,000 members in 5 countries. The FBI program Community Shield rounded up 1600 gang members in 5 countries and deported them but the gang members said they would just come back. Dan Rather called it a Revolving Door.

MS-13 runs drugs, weapons, smuggling, steals car, and is very violent. They use machete's to chop arms and heads. They kick and beat and torture their members to get them to follow their rules. Many of them are just young kids.

They are in virtually every state of the United States and growing rapidly.

The FBI Agent thought awhile back they could stamp them out in 12 to 18 months but now thinks maybe 3 to 5 years is more realistic.

Unless we SECURE OUR BORDERS, they will never shut down this band of criminals or secure the people of the United States.

The FBI doesn't care. In fact the only reason they started doing anything was because the problem had spread to other countries...(?)....what does this mean? Since the President could care less about the damage, fear, terror, injuries and murders these people invoke on the American People, this problem is going to get worse.

At least CBS and 60 Minutes cared and ran a nice segment on the problem

Wish I had know they were covering MS13 tonight would have loved to have seen it.

Had family here today for lunch. One is a local deputy. we were sharing info on MS13 since Brunswick county has had two MS13 related murders during the past year. Seems they are moving into our county and most heavy in the Leland area as well as in the southern part of the county. Some are so brazen as to put MS13 graffiti on the garage in plain view.

Charles, you would have really wanted to hear the FBI guy. I was so disappointed in their lack of concern; lack of reality; lack of grasp of the situation. This is beyond the means of the FBI. They arrested 1600 world wide (why is our FBI involved in other countries--I do not understand this and Dan Rather didn't pursue this with the FBI guy) out of 50,000 and admitted the 1600 would be back. So NOW their plan is to jail them all. We already know from another program some time back where they interviewed the MS-13 members already in jail that they run the Gang slick as a whistle from PRISON. They have a "code" they sneak in and out with letters and all types of clever ways to keep the direction and leadership of the gang in tact and fully operational and prisoners have phone rights as well so they can just you know "call".

There is no stopping them UNLESS we secure our borders; deport them; and with secured borders prevent their re-entry. The United States has never been able to control crime in our midst. Not the drug trade, smuggling trade, illegal alien trade, gangs....all worse today than ever before.

SO...the best way to control this problem is to protect Americans from our Borders. If no one gets in, they don't get here and hurt us. If no one gets in, they don't bring drugs, arms, weapons, bombs, or themselves to hurt us or our people.

What is so hard for our government to understand about this simple philosophy? KEEP IT OUT AND IT CAN NOT HURT YOU. Let it in and obviously it's going to hurt your people, your neighborhoods, your labor market, your economy, your standard of living, your peace and harmony, your quiet enjoyment, your personal security, your national security and yes, even our nation's national sovereignty.

they understand it, it's just the big guy who signs the pay check does not want it stopped. Until we get Bush to do his job then we will remain in harms way as a nation.

You're right Charles...it's Bush's responsibility and in my opinion liability for every murdered American at the hand of MS-13 and any other illegal alien murderer. His complicity is nothing short of criminally liable. He knows his policy will get Americans killed. He knows and does nothing.

I don't know how many people have had the "opportunity" to actually see a couple of these MS-13 gang members up close and personal. I have.

All I can tell you is that you feel as though Al Qaida is right there with you. NO KIDDING.

Well I must share this. My brother worked as a reserve county sheriff in Oregon. While he was being trained, the seargent doing the class said that Hispanics (illegals aliens?)comprise 9% of Oregons population, however, at that time, he said that Oregons state prisons, county and city jails, Hispanic inmates comprise about 36% of that population!!!!!!!!!! Now that was about 5 years ago, I have to imagine that it could be higher now. I have a habit of reading the weekly (city of Gresham) police logs in the paper, and 95% of the logs for just the eastside of Multnomah county, are about events involving Hispanics. Other parts of town are pretty much the same. Lately almost all of our violent crime stories on our local news stations have involved Hispanics, mostly gang related. When people try to say police are racially profiling, WELL???? What can they do when the incident rate for this group is so dramatically high. I have dealt with our local police about bad neighbors, and they try so hard not to say what most likely is truly on their minds, they try so hard to monitor themselves, I have seen it in their faces. Our government has been absolutely spineless on this issue. I see gang members come and go in our complex. I have seen these people (Mexicans, maybe illegals) deal drugs and bring in prostitutes. I am completely appalled by the lack of resolve not only by Bush, but by most politicians to stop illegal aliens from entering the U.S., but also about enforcing our laws and deporting these people, and banning them from retunring to U.S. soil. What happens when you get caught stealing from your local grocery store? Police come, arrest you, you might go to jail, then you are completely banned from that store, why? All because you broke the law, pure and simple. Then why should it not be the same for our immigration laws? Are these people not stealing from the American citizens by getting social and public services to which they are not entitled to? Stealing jobs from Americans? YES, then whats our cotton-pickin problem here? I read about Eisenhower in the early 50's and his "Operation Wetback", and how he deported so many in only four months with very limited Border Patrol officers, now if he can do it, then so can we, and I mean not even the U.S. born minors whose parents depend on to be able to stay, they too should go.

OPERATION WETBACK. Operation Wetback was a repatriation project of the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service to remove illegal Mexican immigrants ("wetbacks") from the Southwest. During the first decades of the twentieth century, the majority of migrant workers who crossed the border illegally did not have adequate protection against exploitation by American farmers. As a result of the Good Neighbor Policy, Mexico and the United States began negotiating an accord to protect the rights of Mexican agricultural workers. Continuing discussions and modifications of the agreement were so successful that the Congress chose to formalize the "temporary" program into the Bracero program,qv authorized by Public Law 78. In the early 1940s, while the program was being viewed as a success in both countries, Mexico excluded Texas from the labor-exchange program on the grounds of widespread violation of contracts, discrimination against migrant workers, and such violations of their civil rights as perfunctory arrests for petty causes. Oblivious to the Mexican charges, some grower organizations in Texas continued to hire illegal Mexican workers and violate such mandates of PL 78 as the requirement to provide workers transportation costs from and to Mexico, fair and lawful wages, housing, and health services. World War IIqv and the postwar period exacerbated the Mexican exodus to the United States, as the demand for cheap agricultural laborers increased. Graft and corruption on both sides of the border enriched many Mexican officials as well as unethical "coyote" freelancers in the United States who promised contracts in Texas for the unsuspecting Bracero. Studies conducted over a period of several years indicate that the Bracero program increased the number of illegal aliens in Texas and the rest of the country. Because of the low wages paid to legal, contracted braceros, many of them skipped out on their contracts either to return home or to work elsewhere for better wages as wetbacks.

Increasing grievances from various Mexican officials in the United States and Mexico prompted the Mexican government to rescind the bracero agreement and cease the export of Mexican workers. The United States Immigration Service, under pressure from various agricultural groups, retaliated against Mexico in 1951 by allowing thousands of illegals to cross the border, arresting them, and turning them over to the Texas Employment Commission,qv which delivered them to work for various grower groups in Texas and elsewhere. Over the long term, this action by the federal government, in violation of immigration laws and the agreement with Mexico, caused new problems for Texas. Between 1944 and 1954, "the decade of the wetback," the number of illegal aliens coming from Mexico increased by 6,000 percent. It is estimated that in 1954 before Operation Wetback got under way, more than a million workers had crossed the Rio Grande illegally. Cheap labor displaced native agricultural workers, and increased violation of labor laws and discrimination encouraged criminality, disease, and illiteracy. According to a study conducted in 1950 by the President's Commission on Migratory Labor in Texas, the Rio Grande valleyqv cotton growers were paying approximately half of the wages paid elsewhere in Texas. In 1953 a McAllen newspaper clamored for justice in view of continuing criminal activities by wetbacks.

The resulting Operation Wetback, a national reaction against illegal immigration, began in Texas in mid-July 1954. Headed by the commissioner of Immigration and Naturalization Service, Gen. Joseph May Swing, the United States Border Patrol aided by municipal, county, state, and federal authorities, as well as the military, began a quasimilitary operation of search and seizure of all illegal immigrants. Fanning out from the lower Rio Grande valley, Operation Wetback moved northward. Illegal aliens were repatriated initially through Presidio because the Mexican city across the border, Ojinaga, had rail connections to the interior of Mexico by which workers could be quickly moved on to Durango. A major concern of the operation was to discourage reentry by moving the workers far into the interior. Others were to be sent through El Paso. On July 15, the first day of the operation, 4,800 aliens were apprehended. Thereafter the daily totals dwindled to an average of about 1,100 a day. The forces used by the government were actually relatively small, perhaps no more than 700 men, but were exaggerated by border patrol officials who hoped to scare illegal workers into flight back to Mexico. Valley newspapers also exaggerated the size of the government forces for their own purposes: generally unfavorable editorials attacked the Border Patrol as an invading army seeking to deprive Valley farmers of their inexpensive labor force. While the numbers of deportees remained relatively high, the illegals were transported across the border on trucks and buses. As the pace of the operation slowed, deportation by sea began on the Emancipation, which ferried wetbacks from Port Isabel, Texas, to Veracruz, and on other ships. Ships were a preferred mode of transport because they carried the illegal workers farther away from the border than did buses, trucks, or trains. The boat lift continued until the drowning of seven deportees who jumped ship from the Mercurio provoked a mutiny and led to a public outcry against the practice in Mexico. Other aliens, particularly those apprehended in the Midwest states, were flown to Brownsville and sent into Mexico from there. The operation trailed off in the fall of 1954 as INS funding began to run out.

It is difficult to estimate the number of illegal aliens forced to leave by the operation. The INS claimed as many as 1,300,000, though the number officially apprehended did not come anywhere near this total. The INS estimate rested on the claim that most aliens, fearing apprehension by the government, had voluntarily repatriated themselves before and during the operation. The San Antonio district, which included all of Texas outside of El Paso and the Trans-Pecos,qv had officially apprehended slightly more than 80,000 aliens, and local INS officials claimed that an additional 500,000 to 700,000 had fled to Mexico before the campaign began. Many commentators have considered these figure to be exaggerated. Various groups opposed any form of temporary labor in the United States. The American G.I. Forum,qv for instance, by and large had little or no sympathy for the man who crossed the border illegally. Apparently the Texas State Federation of Laborqv supported the G.I. Forum's position. Eventually the two organizations coproduced a study entitled What Price Wetbacks?, which concluded that illegal aliens in United States agriculture damaged the health of the American people, that illegals displaced American workers, that they harmed the retailers of McAllen, and that the open-border policy of the American government posed a threat to the security of the United States. Critics of Operation Wetback considered it xenophobic and heartless.

Once again, CBS did NOT mention that MS-13 imports illegal aliens. In fact, MS-13 is prob the largest importer of illegal aliens.

I can see why a lot of big companies like these thugs. Perhaps they will make MS-13 their street enforcers. Somebody pisses off Tyson, well they can just call the same crooks that brought them all that illegal labor in NC and say go fix our problem.

Great article COI on Operation Wetback.

We've needed to secure that border since 1954.

Well, 2005 will be the year this demand rings to the highest levels without compromise.

Here is the plan:

1) Build the Fence...the best most beautiful most clever impenetrable fence ever built by human civilization.

2) Put Troops on the Borders NOW and at the Fence when it's complete...they will man the Fence the same way they man the wall at Gitmo.

3) Terminate all tax dollars to Mexico.

4) Restrict all transfer payments to Mexico.

5) Restrict all bank wires to Mexico without a 10 day waiting period, a thorough investiation, and absolute verification that these funds were earned legally.

6) Get an Elliot Ness on Employers and start arresting and prosecuting.

7) Make the announcement that illegals need to leave the country and request they leave voluntarily because if they don't, we'll confiscate all their assets for the cost they've imposed on American Society. Give all aiders and abetters notice that by x date they will be rounded up, fined and jailed without bond due to the national security risk of their criminal activities if they do not stop their activities now and stop aiding, abetting, harboring or assisting violators of US Immigration Law.

8) Get our troops home from Iraq and put them on the MS-13 Gangs and every other gang member. It's time to shut these gangs down and get our kids back to school and happy productive safe lives.

9) Cancel all Free Trade Agreements immediately.

10) Close all Mexican Consulates and any other consulate of any other nation suspected for fostering illegal immigration of its citizens into the United States.

Now, what is so hard about that?

Aren't WE the Americans that can save the world from a monster like Hitler? Aren't WE the Americans that created the Industrial Revolution? Aren't WE the Americans that invented almost everything of value in the world? Aren't WE the Americans that can do anything? Aren't WE the American that believe anything and everything is POSSIBLE

Why then, yes indeedy, WE are the Americans fully capable of saving our nation.

The guy who did the shooting spoke pretty good English. He called 911 and told the operator that he was at the mall and was going to start shooting. Kinda doubt if he's illegal.

Thelma, I did not catch that. Does not surprise me though. Remember the shooting in Hillsboro where the police were not contacted by the criminals themselves to surrender, but media, stating that the young men involved were "afraid" of the police? Well, think if you have done nothing wrong then you do not have anything to fear, if you have then you obviously should be afraid. To me it was just another Hispanic spin to the media and the bleeding heart public to make it sound like they (Mexicans) are the subject of so much police aggression! Judy, I think its time to do just what you suggested. We have been too benevolent with Mexico, and other countries. Why is it our responsibility to support them and feed them, who did it for any of our ancestors here when they were first getting things going? Some of my ancestors (native) helped some of my other ancestors (French/Europeans) to show them what was edible here and about new types of foods to grow, but they did not financially support them. In the past when a person came through Ellis Island, they were expected to make their own way and find their own housing and support their children. Was it a hardship? Yes, but thats what made them more successful in the long run, they knew if they wanted a better life, then they actually had to work for it all, no government handouts to supplement. As for the actual subject of the MS-13, we have had taggings in Gresham that say "MS-13" but it could just be a bunch of Hispanic punk wannabes. I am not sure what they actually "look" like. Gresham police enforced our landlord give a 72 hour notice in July to a group of guys living here that were definitely gang affiliated (my 23 year old daughter said she thought they were 18th Street). Police stood there and watched these guys get the last of their stuff. Our landlord was sweating it, either afraid of retalliation or afraid of police, I'm not sure. Right now I do beleive that there are still some gang members living here, they are keeping a low profile. Police frequently drive by here. I am anxious for us to move, needless to say, way out of town. We must act people, get organized, and maybe consider getting legally armed. Oh, Thelma, have you checked out "Oregonians for Immigration Reform" website? Its good to read, they have done a lot of good. Also, anyone interested, Lars Larson, one of our local political commentator, has a great site and talks frequently about these issues, you should all check it out, just type in his name and click the link.

As I was telling my husband while the story was on, CBS wasn't even going to mention that most of the gang members themselves were illegal aliens who crossed the border in the same way everyone else did, and I was right. CBS never identified the status of any of the "featured" players nor did they make any statement about how gang members get here even though they only talked about some having been deported.

Gee...how is it that they're eligible to be deported if they weren't illegal aliens to begin with!

Wait--I think they DID mention that when he was interviewing the one in prison--the one who looked like his face was kind of deformed or scarred. If I remember correctly, he did ask something about being deported and the man said he just came back in. Let me reread the interview and make sure.

I found what I remembered. I wish someone would move the transcript to this thread so it would all be in one place. I had posted it under "News Stories".

And deportations are still a large part of U.S. strategy. Under a nine-month-old program called “Operation Community Shield,� more than 1,600 gang members, including almost 800 members of MS-13, have been arrested and hundreds have been deported.

Ismael Cisneros doesn’t think deportation is an effective tool. “They deported me and I came back and everyone they deport is going to come back.�

Cisneros, who now says he has left the gang, was deported to Mexico after he had stabbed someone in Virginia in 1999. That was four years before he killed Brenda.

Swecker admits the return of the deportees to the United States is frustrating. “It’s very frustrating. Deportation is a very good strategy. It’s a low intensity effort that churns up activity churns up activity but we think the best way to go at them is to jail ‘em and get them off the streets.�

The Department of Homeland Security says deportation is also a useful tool when there isn’t enough evidence to prosecute a criminal case. Meanwhile, in September, the FBI led simultaneous raids of MS-13 in five countries that netted 650 suspects in 24 hours. At that time, Swecker was optimistic about how long it would take to bring down the gang, setting a goal of about a year and a half.

They DIDN'T actually use the word, ILLEGAL, but I guess you could ASSUME that from what they did say. But some of the ones that lived here appeared to have been born here--especially the girl who ratted and later was killed. So, they come here and recruit KIDS.
