A retired Chinese general recently revealed that his country might be planning a surprise missile attack on the United States. The public comment of Xu Guangyu came in response to WikiLeaks revelations that last year Washington had warned its allies beforehand of China’s test of a missile interceptor.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, in a classified cable sent last January 9th, instructed American embassies in Australia, Britain, Canada, and New Zealand to notify those countries of upcoming Chinese launches two days later. The cable included details of the launch sites for the interceptor and the target, the models of the missiles, the purpose of the test, and the test date.

Yesterday, Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post carried comments from Xu, now at the China Arms Control and Disarmament Association, to the effect that American satellites would have detected activity at the launch sites but that some of the information in the cables—specifically the types of missiles and the day of the test—must have come from a source on the ground. WikiLeaks’s release of this cable, revealing one or more American spies in China’s strategic missile corps, is perhaps the website’s most significant compromise of US security to date.

The Hong Kong paper noted that Xu said that “if China could no longer keep secret its missile launches, it would not be able to launch a surprise attack on the US.â€

China; is militarily weaker than many people think, especially compared to the United States. This, despite lots of showy jet prototypes and plenty of other factory-fresh equipment.

But Beijing has a brutally simple — if risky — plan to compensate for this relative weakness: buy missiles. And then, buy more of them. All kinds of missiles: short-range and long-range; land-based, air-launched and sea-launched; ballistic and cruise; guided and “dumb.â€

China has declared the entire Indian Ocean to be THEIR waters.

Just two days ago, it stopped an Indian Naval vessel after it left port in Viet Nam and informed India that it was trespassing in THEIR waters.

IRONY: The United States built the modernized Chinese military and paid for it with the trade deficit. When (not if) the US goes to war with China, it will be fueled by the greed of American business men who lobbied and insisted that American industry and wealth be outsourced to China.

Our whole economy is now at the mercy of Communist China. We couldn't even fight a war with them without their permission.

True, and we continue to consume their products while borrowing more money,sad times for America.

True, and we continue to consume their products while borrowing more money,sad times for America.

China has to be cautious. If they fight us and lose, Russia would be the big winner. If they fight us and win, Russia would be the big loser.

We would be hesitant to nuke their mainland----and let the fallout drift into our allies in the area? The only solution would be neutron bombs and small tacs.

Ive heard that they have already found clone computer hardware from China in our missile defense systems and elite fighter jets.

China used to threaten to nuke the west coast all the time because that was all they could hit and their accuracy would be shit.

Now, they can hit any place in America including NYC, DC, and Miami thanks to the 2-state rocket and nuclear warhead technologies they stole out of Los Alamos Nuclear Labs during the Clinton years.
