Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey endorsed Donald J. Trump on Friday, a major turn in a wild race and one that gives the New York businessman a major boost as he heads into the pivotal Super Tuesday contests.

Mr. Christie was a candidate himself until he came in sixth place in New Hampshire’s primary.

Seeing his political career facing an abrupt conclusion at the end of a second term as governor following his faded presidential campaign, he was said to be is deeply angry with Senator Marco Rubio, according to three people with direct knowledge of his thinking. He blames Mr. Rubio’s “super PAC” for halting his momentum in New Hampshire in December with a string of slash-and-burn ads.

“He’s been my friend for many years, he’s been a spectacular governor,” said Mr. Trump, standing with Mr. Christie at a press conference in Fort Worth, Texas, for the endorsement.

“I am proud to be here to endorse Donald Trump,” said Mr. Christie, noting they have been friends for a decade.

Mr. Trump “will do exactly what needs to be done to make America a leader around the world again,” said Mr. Christie.

But his backing of Mr. Trump comes after weeks of him saying that it was time for the “entertainment” portion of the race to end, and as he had said that the type of executive leadership that a governor has is important.

‘No one better’ Chris Christie endorses Donald Trump for president

POSTED 12:58 PM, FEBRUARY 26, 2016, BY CNN WIRE, UPDATED AT 01:03PM, FEBRUARY 26, 2016

WASHINGTON — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie endorsed Donald Trump’s presidential bid Friday at a press conference in Texas, saying there is no one better prepared to lead the country in the Republican 2016 race.

“It is my great honor to receive the endorsement of the Governor. We have had a wonderful relationship for many years. He is a solid person that I have tremendous respect for. I am really proud to receive the support of the Governor and his family,” Trump said after the endorsement.

Christie ended his own presidential bid earlier this month.

“Donald is a leader. He is a successful person that, like me, isn’t afraid to tell it like it is,” Christie said. “Our system is broken and it won’t be fixed from the inside. I am proud to offer my endorsement of his candidacy for President.”

Former RNC Chairman Michael Steele: ‘BOOM!’ Trump’s Christie Endorsement Was A ‘Drop

Former RNC Chairman Michael Steele: ‘BOOM!’ Trump’s Christie Endorsement Was A ‘Drop The Mic Moment’

Former Republican National Committee (RNC) chairman Michael Steele tells Breitbart News that Chris Christie’s endorsement of Donald Trump Friday was a pivotal moment in the campaign.

“One word, BOOM! Exclamation point,” Steele said in an interview. “Today after what we saw Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)
do last night, he was out there attacking Trump on twitter and Trump was like, got one for you, BOOM!”

“Now the guy who defined Marco a few weeks ago is back in the game. He’s engaged, and he’s working with Trump. BOOM!”

Christie formally endorsed Trump in Texas at a press conference Friday before a major rally, calling Trump a longtime personal friend and saying that Trump is the most feared Republican to square off against Democrats in the general election. Christie previously scored a massive triumph when he mocked Marco Rubio’s memorized scripted talking points in a Republican debate in New Hampshire.

“The man is amazing,” Steele said of Trump. “I’ve never seen anything like this in politics. I don’t think there’s any descriptor for what Donald Trump has done to the political process and the Republican Party. There’s no one else playing this game better than him.”

Steele noted the size of the crowd at the Trump rally in Fort Worth.

“10,000 people in this stadium, those are general election numbers,” Steele said. “If there’s 10,000 in the primary what do you think the general is going to be?”

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich also declared Friday that Christie’s endorsement of Donald Trump is a great sign for Trump’s chances to become the standard-bearer of the Republican Party.

This Chris Christie endorsement of Trump is real signal to GOP establishment that they had better begin thinking about Trump as the future

Senator on GOP backing Trump: 'Party has gone batshit crazy'

WASHINGTON (AP) — Sen. Lindsey Graham is disgusted with the GOP's embrace of Donald Trump: "My party has gone batshit crazy."

In no-holds-barred remarks at a celebratory dinner Thursday night, the South Carolina senator and unsuccessful presidential candidate said the GOP has lost all semblance of sanity and predicted the party will suffer irrevocable losses in November if it backs Trump.

Graham said the GOP has its best chance in years to win as Democrats are likely to nominate Hillary Clinton, who has been damaged by questions about her trustworthiness. But his party is about to blow it, he said.

"The most dishonest person in America is a woman, who's about to become president. How could that be?

My party has gone batshit crazy," Graham said.

The plain-spoken Graham has repeatedly engaged in name-calling with Trump. Earlier Thursday, Graham called the GOP front-runner a "nut job" and insisted his party would go down like the Titanic if it backed the billionaire businessman.

Hours later, at the Washington Press Club Foundation's annual congressional dinner, attended by more than 750 lawmakers, journalists and congressional aides, Graham made a scathing attack on the GOP and several of his former presidential rivals. The dinner traditionally is a joke-filled affair with lawmakers poking fun at each other.

Of Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who has alienated Republicans and Democrats alike, Graham said, "A good Republican would defend Ted Cruz after tonight. That ain't happening. If you killed Ted Cruz on the floor of the Senate and the trial was in the Senate, nobody could convict you."

Reading from notes, Graham said, "I was asked the hardest question of my political life. Do you agree with Donald Trump that Ted Cruz is the biggest liar in politics? Too close to call."

"I know exactly when Ted's going to drop out of the race. March 12th. That's Canadian week at Myrtle Beach, when all of our Canadian friends get 10 percent off," he said.

Graham called 44-year-old Florida Sen. Marco Rubio "boy wonder" and suggested he was politically malleable.

"I'm not saying he would change his positions, but he would change his positions," said Graham, who worked with Rubio on a sweeping immigration bill on which the presidential candidate has backtracked.

In closing, Graham declared himself the Dr. Jack Kevorkian of the GOP presidential campaign, referring to the euthanasia activist who died in 2011.

Graham's own presidential bid faltered, and he had to drop out. He endorsed Jeb Bush, who subsequently quit.

Graham then pulled out a white baseball cap emblazoned with Trump's "Make America Great Again" slogan and endorsed the New Yorker.

"I endorse Donald Trump and hope the Graham magic still exists," he said.

Christie was running around the country a few years back raising lots of money for the GOP. Probably a good sign for Trump that endorsements are beginning. Trump mentioned months ago that some of the candidates on stage he would consider for posts in his administration, maybe Christie is one of them. The timing could not be better to flank his back from Rubio.

Christie: “Rubio represents DC; We don’t need anymore DC politicians”

    Wayne Dupree

NJ Governor and former presidential candidate Chris Christie delivered the best stump speech against Sen. Marco Rubio
on Friday in Oklahoma City, OK when he tore into the inexperience of the junior 1-term legislator.

“Marco Rubio, your campaign is almost over, buddy. He’s showing a lot of desperation today, throwing punches from a lot of angles, but none of them are landing, because America has made its decision. Donald Trump represents strength. Marco Rubio represents Washington, D.C,. we don’t need anymore DC politicians.”

Christie also wanted to remind Rubio the office of the presidency was not a no-show position, as he was referring to the many missed votes of the senator while in office.

Some say Christie is part of the GOP establishment, well going after the establishment candidate that is Rubio will create some tremendous problems for the near future and beyond. What do you think about Christie joining the Trump team?
