Too Much Tequila? Pelosi Tells Republicans – Celebrate Cinco de Mayo With Amnesty

Too Much Tequila? Pelosi Tells Republicans – Celebrate Cinco de Mayo With Amnesty

Posted on 5 May, 2014 by Rick Wells

Cinco de Mayo is just an excuse for Americans to consume more Mexican food and drink. It’s nothing more than that. Even for Mexicans in America, it isn’t a day they celebrate.
That didn’t stop Nancy Pelosi from seizing upon an opportunity to pander for Latino support. In what was surely a research project for one of her aides, she put out a statement on Friday imploring the heartless Republicans to pass amnesty on this “important day.”
Most Americans don’t celebrate any holidays in the way in which they were intended or designated. They are paid holidays from work or a chance to make some extra money for most. A fake holiday for folks from another country is just an excuse for a fiesta. Pelosi issued the following statement anyway.
“On Cinco de Mayo, we remember the courage and heroism of a poorly armed Mexican militia that, in 1862, and in defense of their country, their rights, and their future, defeated the imperial French army in the Battle of Puebla. Since that moment of valor, we honor the history of our friends and neighbors to the south and recognize and celebrate the contributions of Hispanic Americans across our country.
“As we look back on a seminal moment in history, let us also look forward to the best ways we can continue to embrace the diverse heritage and rich history of Latinos in the United States. There is no better way to acknowledge the important contributions to our country of America’s Latino community than by enacting comprehensive immigration reform.
“Whether on Cinco de Mayo or on any other day, the time is now for comprehensive immigration reform that honors the values of our country, strengthens our economy, and provides an earned pathway to citizenship. And the time is now for House Republicans to emulate the bravery demonstrated in the Battle of Puebla, recognize the importance of immigrants and family unification, and give us a vote on a comprehensive bill that reforms our broken immigration system.
There’s no reform in the comprehensive bill, just a new bow on the old package that her president isn’t enforcing now. Nancy could start a new tradition of her own this May 5th. She could set aside one day a year to tell the truth.

I've never understood how Pelosi gets re-elected over and over and over and.... She really does support rape of children and death by DUI. Excuse me, that describes all of Washington, D.C.

Nancy Pelosi to GOP: Honor Cinco de Mayo by Passing Amnesty

by Tony Lee 4 May 2014
    breitbart

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said House Republicans on Cinco de Mayo should be as courageous as the Mexican militia that defeated the French army in the Battle of Puebla to pass amnesty legislation.

Pelosi, who has said that passing amnesty legislation would be more important to her than becoming Speaker again, said "the time is now for comprehensive immigration reform" and for "House Republicans to emulate the bravery demonstrated in the Battle of Puebla, recognize the importance of immigrants and family unification, and give us a vote on a comprehensive bill that reforms our broken immigration system."

“As we look back on a seminal moment in history, let us also look forward to the best ways we can continue to embrace the diverse heritage and rich history of Latinos in the United States," Pelosi said in a statement. "There is no better way to acknowledge the important contributions to our country of America’s Latino community than by enacting comprehensive immigration reform."

Even though the Congressional Budget Office has determined that amnesty legislation would lower the wages of American workers and detrimentally impact Hispanics on the lower end of the economic ladder, Democrats and Republicans backed by big-business and the high-tech industry have been relentless in advocating for sweeping amnesty legislation.

Pro-amnesty advocates like Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Rep. Luis Gutierrez (R-IL) have said that this year is the last chance to pass a significant amnesty bill. GOP Conference Chair Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers recently indicated that Republican leaders will try to bring legislation to the floor in August while Schumer has said he believes amnesty legislation could passed in "June or July." Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) has indicated that there is a "grand bargain" that is in the works in the coming months on possible amnesty legislation.
