Colbert Mocks Trump for New Budget Deal from Congress

Late-night host went after the president for an agreement from lawmakers that scores only a portion of the money he originally sought for a border wall

    By PopZette Staff | February 13, 2019

Stephen Colbert will go after President Donald Trump for literally anything — even things that aren’t his fault or his doing.

While he completely ignores fiascoes within the Democrat Party, the late-night liberal has mocked Trump for his attempts to get funding for a border wall between Mexico and the United States and also for a new tentative deal from lawmakers that would give him only a portion of the funds he needs.

Colbert mocks the idea of a border wall — then turns around and mocks the president for no border wall.

On his late-night show on Tuesday night, Colbert targeted a tentative new deal that could avoid another government shutdown and provide partial funding for a border wall.

It sounded an awful lot like Colbert wanted Trump to get the full $5.7 billion he requested — never mind that he mocked this exact request earlier.

“This deal gives Trump only less than $1.4 billion for just 55 miles of fences. The border is 2,000 miles, so of course, they’ll need to set aside money for signs that say, ‘Please attempt to cross only at fence.’ It’s an honor system,” Colbert said.

The comedian continued, “You’re on your honor. And remember how Trump shut down the government after rejecting a border bill back in December? Well, that deal offered him $1.6 billion for fencing. That is some A+ negotiating.”

Colbert then did an impression of the president making this new deal.

“‘OK, here we go. No, no. You write a number on a slip of paper, pass it across the table to me, OK? Then I’m gonna shut down the table for a month until everyone gets really mad and Cardi B calls me out. Then I’ll reopen the table, and you slide me an even smaller number, and I say yes. Deal art-ed,'” joked Colbert.

Can these late-night hosts get through one show without referencing the president in some way?

All activists, please begin your calls with President Trump (202-456-1414) , then call as many Republicans and Democrats alike (starting with those in your own state before moving to adjacent states). (Numbers Click Here)

Our message must be emphatic and clear:

"DO NOT VOTE ON OR FOR THE BUDGET DEAL BILL until lawmakers, the media, and American public have had plenty of time to read or react to the contents of the legislation! Pass a continuing resolution or shut down the government to allow everyone time to read what is in the secret budget deal bill. If Congress votes blind on this budget bill today like they did on Obamacare, your actions will have a catastrophic effect on the confidence of Americans who are being taxed, yet deprived of representation by such despicable elitist tactics."

Call as many DC offices as possible. Contact info at this link. You should also search for these lawmakers on Twitter and Facebook and post your messages to them there too!
