    Congress gives themselves a raise

I was just SICK when I heard that the House had voted themselves a hefty little raise of $3100 a year. What is WRONG with those idiots that we've elected?? Are we not in the worst fiscal position that we've ever been in??? All of our manufacturing jobs have already been outsourced. Now, our technology jobs are going the same route. We have MILLIONS of Americans who can't afford health care. And, they can give themselves a raise??? I am APPALLED.

I took the time to check whether my Congressman voted for or against and, bless Howard Coble--he voted AGAINST. He was one of the few from North Carolina but he shows great courage. I need to go write him!

I researched this one and found that Congress did get an almost $4000 pay raise in 2004. This is the story---they voted, several years ago, to get a cost of living raise yearly. BUT, they have the option each year to vote NOT to take it. Also, what I discovered was that they have NOT voted AGAINST taking it for the past 7 years in a row.

    MUST BE NICE!!

If their pay was based on job performance, each political hack in Washington would owe the U.S. a whole pile of money!

The really bad thing is that they get paid even when they don't show up. It's very interesting now that you can watch on TV because you can scope it out and just see how many actually attend the sessions. We ought to start docking their paychecks if we don't see them sitting there.
