Speaking on the floor of the House of Representatives Wednesday afternoon, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX), the Texas Democrat once called the "congressional boss from hell," urged Americans to turn in their guns.
"I would personally just say to those who are listening, maybe you want to turn in your guns," she said.
"Oh no, I'm not going to take your guns. But look at what Dick's Sporting Goods did ... they wanted to be part of the solution and part of America," she added.
This week, the company announced that it would "stop selling and displaying guns at its store closest to Newtown and would suspend the sale of modern sporting rifles nationwide out of respect for the victims of the shooting," The Hill reported.
"We are extremely saddened by the unspeakable tragedy that occurred last week in Newtown, CT, and our hearts go out to the victims and their families, and to the entire community," Dicks Sporting Goods said in a statement.
"Out of respect for the victims and their families, during this time of national mourning we have removed all guns from sale and from display in our store nearest to Newtown and suspended the sale of modern sporting rifles in all of our stores chainwide."
While liberals praised the company, Twitchy said Tuesday that supporters of gun rights were furious.
"What Dick's Sporting Goods has done is precisely the kind of reactionary post-Newtown, CT response the Obama administration was hoping for," one person tweeted.
"I was on my way to Dick's Sporting Goods to do some Christmas shopping. Not any more and never again. They no longer sell guns," said another.
Since the tragic shootings, Democrats and their allies in the so-called "mainstream media" have engaged in a non-stop propaganda campaign attacking the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.
A number of liberals, including a member of the Texas Democratic Party Executive Committee, have suggested that members and supporters of the NRA be killed for supporting gun rights.
The Hill said that Jackson Lee introduced a bill in January 2011 that would "raise the eligibility to carry a handgun from 18 to 21 and ban people under 21 from possessing semiautomatic assault weapons."
"Her bill, the Child Gun Safety and Gun Access Prevention Act, would also increase penalties for repeat violations of gun possession under the Brady Act and prohibit the keeping of a loaded firearm in any premises where there is a risk that the firearm could harm a child," The Hill added.
So far, her proposal has no cosponsors.

Progressive Democrat Sheila Jackson Lee Pushes for Obama Dictatorship

Reminiscent of FDR’s Second Bill of Rights, members of the Congressional Black Caucus, along with a few more progressive Democrats, have formed the Congressional Full Employment Caucus. Their goals, as stated on their website is to serve as a platform and working group for Members dedicated to identifying solutions to our current unemployment crisis and advocating for legislative action. Ultimately, the goal of the Caucus is to realize the dream of a society in which every American who wants to work has the right to some form of employment.
Members of the caucus include Democrats Rep. John Conyers Jr., Rep. Maxine Waters, Rep. Charles Rangel, Rep. Frederica Wilson, Rep. Barbara Lee, Rep. Jose Serrano, Rep. Mike Quigley, and Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee.
Jackson Lee, known for her staunch and constant defense of Barack Obama, plans on using this newly formed caucus to help Obama with pledge to make 2014 be ‘a year of action’ with or without Congress. In support of his pledge to rule America as a dictator, Jackson Lee has stated that the Congressional Full Employment Caucus will help Obama by sending him numerous executive orders. This will be their top priority.
As reported at CNSNews.com, Jackson-Lee made the following statement to reporters during the launch of the caucus on January 29th.
“We will be answering the call of all of America because people need work and we’re not doing right by them by creating work,” Jackson Lee said.
“I believe this caucus will put us on the right path and we’ll give President Obama a number of executive orders that he can sign with pride and strength.”

Sheila Jackson Lee Grateful For 400 Year-Old Constitution

Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas), a woman the Congressional Black Caucus floated last year as its pick to replace former DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano, believes the U.S. Constitution was written 176 years, give or take, before Rhode Island ratified it in 1790.
Lee’s patriotism got the better of her erudition on the House floor Wednesday, where she bloviated about the providential foresight for stable governing written into our Nation’s founding legal document. She praised the Constitution for reliably ensuring free legislative deliberation for these past 400 years, and expressed appreciation that we have “a constitution that clearly defines what is constitutional and what is not.”
Using Lee’s math, the Constitution would have been written in or around 1614, when things like Pocahontas marrying John Rolfe and Jamestown’s settlement as the capital of the Virginia colony were considered current events.
Maybe I should offer a good thanks to the distinguished members of the majority, the Republicans, my chairman and others, for giving us an opportunity to have a deliberative constitutional discussion that reinforces the sanctity of this nation and how well it is that we have lasted some 400 years, operating under a constitution that clearly defines what is constitutional and what is not.
