Rep. Dana Rohrabacher Says Trump Admin Considering Him for Secretary of State

    by MICHELLE MOONS
    26 Nov 2016

One day after Thanksgiving, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher tweeted out news that he is being considered for the position of Secretary of State in President-elect Donald Trump’s Administration.

The tweet linked to the following message:

I have been told that I am under consideration to join President Trump’s team as Secretary of State. While my present intention, of course, is to continue to fight for liberty and freedom as a member of the House of Representatives, as a strong supporter of President-Elect Trump’s vision for America, it would be a privilege and an honor to serve as his Secretary of State.

Breitbart News is conducting a poll of potential candidates for Secretary of State. As a supporter of mine who shares values and patriotism, I thought you might want to participate in this poll and am providing you a link to do so HERE

The Rohrabacher Family just had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We wish you a Happy Holiday, Merry Christmas and terrific New Year.

    All the Best,

    Dana

This was the Friday, November 25 tweet:

Rohrabacher previously served as a senior speech writer for seven years as well as special assistant to former President Ronald Reagan. He is a senior member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and serves as chairman of the subcommittee on Europe, Eurasia, and Emerging Threats. He is also a member of the subcommittee on Asia, the Pacific, and the Global Environment

The California congressman was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1988 and is now serving his 13th term. He was a leading figure in the effort to boycott the 2008 Beijing, China Olympics on the basis of human rights violations, according to his website. The site also states, “As a senior member of the International Relations Committee, Rohrabacher led the effort to deny Most Favored Nation trading status to Communist China, citing the rogue nation’s dismal human rights record and opposition to democracy.”

In October Rohrabacher slammed Republicans who distanced themselves from Trump as “gutless,” then proclaimed, “We don’t have to just be concerned about saving House seats. We have to be concerned about saving the United States of America” according to the Orange County Register.

Other names being tossed around as candidates for Secretary of State are former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani — a strong supporter of Trump during the election season — and failed 2008 and 2012 Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, who repeatedly and harshly assailed Trump as unfit for the presidency and attempted to recruit a third party opponent to him during the 2016 election season.

He's B+ on numbersusa immigration grade, not bad.

I'd be okay with Dana. He has good foreign policy experience, he's statesmanlike, he's not excellent, but very good on immigration policy, he's a Trump Supporter but wasn't an early one because his wife was a Cruz Supporter and a Cruz delegate to the Convention. Far better than Mitt Romney. I don't know his foreign policy positions but probably not that different than Trump's or he wouldn't be under consideration, would he? He was Reagan's Press Secretary for several years according to Wiki. I've noticed when he speaks on television, he's excellent with the media. This could be a big plus. He's a former Libertarian Activist, so that's good, believes in freedom and such. He has a Masters Degree in American Studies from USC .... that's really good, because that means he's not one of these Yalie or Harvard Globalist Snots.

Also, he's from California and a big appointment from California, that would be nice, too!

Gee, the more you look at him, the more you like his background and who he is to represent the United States in foreign affairs.

The only negative that stands out for me is his past support of increased worker visas.

I've personally met with Rep. Dana Rohrabacher and he is a solid anti-amnesty anti-illegal immigration Representative!

Thank you W!! So glad to hear that! I know in the poll he was losing by a lot but I think that's because he doesn't have the name recognition of Rudy, Bolton and Petraeus. I like Dana a lot especially after I did a little research and would be very happy to see him appointed Secretary of State.

A lot of members of Congress have supported those requests for visas because they were lied to by industry and employers. They claimed they couldn't find these "skills" or Americans didn't want to work and other BS. Now that they've been caught lying and cheating on visas thanks to the whistle-blowers at the power company in California where they were forcing Americans they were laying off to train visa workers to replace them, that is what really blew the lid off this visa scam and most members of Congress realized they were being lied to by these companies and their lobbyists.

We owe a great deal of thanks to those brave employees who came forward and told the truth about what had happened to them, even though their firing packages required they keep silent.

If we want a cohesive team to work toward America First and ending illegal immigration I would like to see Rep. Rohrabacher added. I would prefer someone like him over Rudy Giuliani who has supported amnesty actions in the past.

Senator Sessions, Kris Kobach, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, Lou Barletta, Stephen Miller, Sheriff Joe, Laura Ingraham have been consistent in opposing amnesty.
