The clarion call is getting louder.

Last week, police executives from across the country added their voices to a growing call to limit the immigration enforcement role of local law enforcement agencies.

The report, “The Role of Local Police: Striking a Balance Between Immigration Enforcement and Civil Libertiesâ€

I would like to see a list of the knee jerk officers. I think their communities they have sworn to protect should know who they are and what they believe.

I'll tell you right now, a few cracked pots in LA don't speak for California, much less for the rest of the nation.

"By taking on the role of an immigration agent, police departments are no longer perceived as protecting members of the immigrant community. Rather, officers are feared for their role in deporting members of the immigrant community."

As well the police officers should report them and have them deported. Their salaries are paid by U.S. taxpayer dollars and they are their to "serve and protect" LEGAL U.S. citizens, NOT ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS AND ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT CRIMINALS!!!!!

By taking on the role of an immigration agent, police departments are no longer perceived as protecting members of the immigrant community. Rather, officers are feared for their role in deporting members of the immigrant community. This is not an enviable role. It is difficult, if not impossible, for the police to identify, arrest, and prosecute criminals when victims fail to report crimes and witnesses will not cooperate with the police for fear of deportation.
I could care less about their "fear". The 287(g) benefits far outweigh the costs of not enforcing our laws. Keep enforcing, keep deporting.

Illegal invaders are not "immigrants," and have not earned the right to be part of any community in this country!

Perhaps there would be less crime if there were fewer illegal invaders in these "immigrant communities."

I believe it is called a deterrent

de⋅ter⋅rent  /dɪˈtɜrənt, -ˈtʌr-, -ˈtɛr-/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [di-tur-uhnt, -tuhr-, -ter-]
–adjective 1. serving or tending to deter.

–noun 2. something that deters: a deterrent to crime.
    3. military strength or an ability to defend a country or retaliate strongly enough to deter an enemy from attacking.

    Synonyms:
    2. restraint, curb, check, hindrance.

Not to mention they know the feds can not do it alone, and they are afraid of any thing that works when it comes to enforcing our immigration laws!
