Court Gives Texas Green Light On Voter ID Law

A federal court passed a vote on a Texas voter identification law Tuesday which requires voters to present an accepted photo ID card.

In a two to one majority, a panel of the New Orleans-based 5th Circuit Court of Appeals voted to allow Texas to use the revised voter ID measure — known as SB 5 — for the upcoming November elections. With this ruling, the court officially stayed a lower judge’s ruling barring Texas from implementing a revised version of its voter identification law.

This vote puts an end to U.S. District Judge Nelva Gonzales Ramos’s prior order, which allowed those without an accepted ID to vote by signing a sworn declaration stating they have a reasonable barrier to obtaining one.

Circuit Judges Jerry Smith and Jennifer Walker Elrod said in a joint statement that the state made a compelling case for the ruling.

“The State has made a strong showing that it is likely to succeed on the merits,” Smith and Elrod said. “SB 5 allows voters without qualifying photo ID to cast regular ballots by executing a declaration that they face a reasonable impediment to obtaining qualifying photo ID. This declaration is made under the penalty of perjury.”

The U.S. Department of Justice and President Donald Trump supported the ruling.

“We are pleased that the Fifth Circuit has stayed the injunction and allowed Texas to proceed with its duly enacted voter identification laws,” Justice Department spokeswoman Lauren Ehrsam told Politico. “Preserving the integrity of the ballot is vital to our democracy, and the Fifth Circuit’s order allows Texas to continue to fulfill that duty as this case moves forward.”

What would be a 'reasonable barrier' to obtaining ID?

Assuming there is such a thing, just how any people in the state of Texas could have that 'barrier'?

You know, I want my country back, I want my life back. I'm getting really tired of the country being drained of our resources. I'm tired of our educational system being destroyed in order to educate a lot of people who are just here to use our resources and take over our systems.

I'm tired of our legal system putting more time and effort into bending the rules, ignoring, or writing new law to protect people who are here illegally, and many of them criminals, than they are protecting this country and it's people.


Ditto goes for our law enforcement.

A great big double ditto for those people elected to congress, who are sworn to uphold the Constitution, and represent the people, who betray us at every turn.

I'm tired of our legal system simply ignoring gross, vile crimes by those who hold elected offices and other jobs of public trust.

I'm tired of our news media not reporting news, but making up stories, or spending their time fine combing everything the President says, does, eats, wears, etc., even staging events, like the 'rescue' in Houston.

I'm tired of the very corporations whose products I purchase, using that money to destroy this country and my children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren's futures by supporting illegals and foreigners over our own citizens, not just economically, but every other way.

Yesterday, I saw a man talking head on Youtube saying with all the chaos in this presidency, the President has now decided to deport thousands of law abiding Americans.

How do these people who blather these lies, the lawmakers who refuse to do their jobs, judges who desecrate our laws, law enforcement who ignores our laws, look at themselves in the mirror. Better yet, how do they face their children, if they have any.

Finally, I'm very tired of this country being at war. There has got to be other ways to keep our economy going than death and destruction.
