Dallas Protest: Sad News
I was informed a family was coming from Denver, that waves of supporters were coming in from Houston and Tyler and that there were many outraged folks in DFW who would join me. I arrived at the spot at 10:35am and waited. Not one person was there by 11 am.
I stood up and picked up my signs and began walking back and forth on the sidewalk in front on City Hall. I got many honks and waves but by 1pm I still had not one supporter arrive. At 1:30 a mother and daughter pulled up in a Lexus and honked for me. They pulled over and came over to join me. As I was giving them signs to hold the mothers faced looked disgusted. It turns out she had misread my sign to say "Go Amnesty" instead of "No Amnesty". They said they were here for a rally to support illegal immigration. It seems that rally never happened. My heart dropped. By 3pm still not one person had arrived to help me like I had been informed of. Disheartened, tired and quite frankly bored, I picked up and returned home two hours earlier than I had wanted too.
Some Positives:
It seems that there are many impoverished hispanics who are actual American Citizens that are not in support of the illegals. They join the majority of the poor who sit in the park by city hall on park benches.
Other than some mentally disturbed guy who claimed he was rich an illegal from Haiti and the mother and daughter everyone else I spoke with was against what the Senate was doing.
I had nothing thrown at me, was not attacked. They only thing that hurt about this demonstration was that no one was there to join me. The mentally handicapped guy even asked me "if they can get 4,000 to gather here how do you think you will win with just one of you?" a valid point indeed.

But last I read you were going to protest up in Plano at Park and Hwy 75 North.
Did you change location and not notify people?
Just a thought.

I feel your pain
I know how devestated you must feel. I have experienced the same apathy here in Charlotte. People talk a very big game. It is easy to show outrage and post your rants when hidden behind anonymity. I will have no sympathy for those who will be crying and shaking there heads in disbelief when this country, as we know it today, is gone. Perhaps, all those who declare that they are ready to take up arms and kill the enemy should consider that if they walk now, they might not have to shoot later. President Bush is coming to Charlotte next week and I would love to have people lining the streets with NO AMNESTY signs. I, like you, and much more disheartned, by the apathetic attitude and actions of the legal citizens that than outrageous demands of the illegals.

A good bumper sticker or ...editorial cartoon...might be a graphic drawing of a herd of sheep with the name American citizenry printed on each sheep... being herded toward a cliff by a two sombrero wearing conquistadors on horseback.... with the names FOX and BUSH printed on each sombrero.
Or how about an American sitting in a siesta position wearing a baseball pulled down over his eyes while crowds of Mexicans swarm around him.

no one was there. Perhaps I will be able to bounce back. My hope is that some how the local media will finally see me and at leat give me a blurb about it on the news or in the paper.
that is a fading hope.

Dragons5. I'd call that a bad day. It makes me think that William and Roy Beck from NumbersUSA are right. Americans just don't take to the streets. We've been trained to believe that our voices will be heard through speaking to our elected officials.
You are a GREAT AMERICAN, your efforts are extremely appreciated by all of US.
Dragons5, have you considered going to Rumble at the Ranch ? I still believe that the possibility for protesting still exists. For now lets keep up the fight. I've heard it said that this battle will be won by US, but that it will be in small increments.
Thank you Dragons5. You are one of the best Americans I've ever known. TOGETHER WE WILL SEE VICTORY !!!Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

rumble at what ranch?
I am just doing what my grandfather (WWII vet) my father (Vietnam vet) and my brother (current iraq war vet) have taught me to do. Protect this country and our way of life. It has been my hope that by standing on street corners with signs I will not need to go to "more extreme" measures to gain attention, however tomorrow may see me going in a different directing and getting more radical. For instance burning a Mexican and Salvadorian flag in offering to the American flag at City Hall

P.S. Everyone interested in Protesting please go to the thread below this entitled "WE MUST BEGIN TO PROTEST NOW". It is obvious that thousands of Americans WANT TO and are READY. NumbersUSa has said thousands of Americans are calling for a protest.
Do not give up. It appears "planning and organization" is all that is really lacking for a protest. The desire is there for THOUSANDS of US.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
