Democratic Senator Claire McCaskill warns nation being ‘swallowed up’ by $17 trillion debt

Democratic Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill turned on many in her own party during a town hall meeting Wednesday, claiming she believes a $17 trillion debt is “irresponsible” and that “we’re not a first-tier nation anymore if we get swallowed up by debt.”

The senator began by hitting the requisite Democratic talking points, noting that America didn’t suffer as badly as Europe during the recession because of the federal stimulus. “That’s why we’ve had job growth and they’ve had such stagnation,” she explained.

“But I do believe that a $17 trillion debt is irresponsible,” she continued. “I do believe that.”

“So some of the people who think, ‘Well, you know, deficits don’t matter, and debt doesn’t matter,’ — we have cut our deficit by a lot, and that’s great — but I don’t think it’s responsible to say, ‘Ok, let’s go back to the old way.’”

“Because you know what the old way was?” McCaskill asked. “We said yes to everybody. You know, we all want to be loved. That’s why we run for office.”

The Democratic senator also took aim at what she views as unconstitutional overreach by the federal government. “We have ourselves doing things the federal government was never intended to do,” she worried. “I mean, we weren’t supposed to be buying municipal fire trucks, the federal government. We’re doing that now.”
“That’s not the way the Constitution was designed,” she asserted. “We weren’t supposed to have the federal government paying for education. We are now doing a lot of that.”

Still a Democrat, McCaskill was careful to stress that she supported Pell grants, school nutrition and programs for disabled children. “That’s all good, and I’m for it,” she noted.

“But I do think we have to be careful about trying to make the federal government the answer to everything,” she argued, “because it’s gonna get us in the position that we’re not a first-tier nation anymore, if we get swallowed up by the debt.”

called the police, according to Gateway Pundit, who helped organize the protest. McCaskill’s minions wanted the police to disperse the crowd, claiming the most polite 10,000 people on the planet were “threatening.” More on Hot Airand Glenn Reynolds.

We threaten, alright. We threaten the political careers of tinpot dictators like Barack Obama and his lackies like “Acorn” McCaskill. We threaten ever growing government power to suppress, tax, and destroy. We threaten the un-Constitutional confiscation of power and property that has driven this country to edge of economic depression and civil strife. We threaten cowardly officeholders like Claire McCaskill who pretend, one day, to put country before party only to sell out her constituents and their Constitution the next.

We tried to be nice to McCaskill. Clearly, she wants a bare-knuckles brawl.

Let’s have a crew at her office every day. We have retirees and small business owners in the coalition, right? We get dozens of emails every week asking for something to do. Get to Delmar and say hello to the McCaskill people. Let them call the cops every day. Let them cry wolf until the police are sick of them. Let the neighbors and business owners get sick of McCaskills’ Cowards whining and blocking the streets. Let the Senator explain to crime victims why their lives are less important than wasting police time at her office.

Let’s have people at each of her public appearences. Let’s populate the restaurants where she eats with Tea Partiers. Let’s visit her ever day until she shakes like $12 electric toothbrush at the sound of the word “tea.” Let’s make her a prisoner of her Washington, DC, home. Let’s drive this witch from public life!

Please use the comments section if you know where McCaskill will be, and when. In the meantime, let’s visit her office on Delmar Monday through Friday until she votes against Cap and Trade, votes against Socialized Medicine, and swears off any second stimulus. All you people who want more to do, here’s your chance: Make McCaskill’s life a living hell!

Then we’ll turn our steely focus on that silly bastard Russ Carnahan, the biggest joke of a politician since Pat Paulson.
