Democrats Want Hardworking Americans to Pay for Everything! Now, the Internet?

"The politicians don't just want your money. They want your soul. They want you to be worn down by taxes until you are dependent and helpless. When you subsidize poverty and failure, you get more of both."
James Dale Davidson, National Taxpayers Union

Democrats have a long, storied history of providing for the poor. Food, housing, schooling and medical care are all-important basics of life which Republicans provide too. That's generally a good thing.

But Democrats don't particularly care about how these services are provided. In other words, they don't mind if the American middle class or the wealthy are taxed to pay for these services and they don't understand how failing to consider the Government's source of revenues can destroy a healthy economy.

What's wrong here? The government -- if the people determine that it's what they want -- should provide services based on existing tax revenues --not mindlessly raise taxes on already successful Americans and scour the American economy for new taxation targets, as Democrats currently do.

Now Doris Matsui, California Democratic congresswoman, is describing to us what she thinks is a clever idea: subsidize the Internet so everybody can use it.

Under her "Broadband Affordability Act," Matsui wants to drive up the unsubsidized cost of living of all hard-working Americans, to provide yet another entitlement to America's poor. Think of how the Democrats provided free houses for everyone through Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the now insolvent government-sponsored housing arms. Surprise!! Give people houses they cannot afford or pay and a real-estate market meltdown will ensue. Some people -- I include myself -- put the entire blame for our current dire economic condition squarely on the real-estate 'giveaway' by Democrats. Dodd & Frank were the real culprits of this chaos.

By treating the Internet as some God-given right, Rep. Matsui hopes to catapult the Internet into the realm of life's essential staples. While the Internet may be this important, there's no reason why the rest of us paying customers should pay more so that the unemployed and chronic poor get a free ride. This is what will undoubtedly happen should Ms. Matsui and other Dems be allowed to create yet another entitlement, this time involving the 'nerve center' of business.

Matsui specifically (in this instance), and Obama in general, have been trying to encroach on Americans' rights since the beginning of Obama's presidency. Consider Obama's efforts with Holder and the DoJ to force gun control on citizens. Consider his desire to open the borders and grant amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants. Consider how he wants to inflict his clearly unconstitutional healthcare scheme on Americans who don't want it. In context, this power grab for the Internet is just more of the same from the 'Hope & Change' gang.

These efforts to increase taxes wherever Dems please and their efforts to control American's rights across the board must be stopped. It's the only way the singularly American "pursuit of happiness" can continue.

"Unquestionably, there is progress. The average American now pays out twice as much in taxes as he formerly got in wages."
    H. L. Mencken (1880 - 1956)
