The Democratic National Committee is calling on its supporters and Republicans to boycott radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh and the conservative Daily Caller online news publication because of their recent commentaries on sexual harassment.

"There’s a line between casual but unacceptable sexism and justifying sexual harassment. When someone as prominent as Rush Limbaugh crosses that line, everyone — Democrats and Republicans alike — needs to stop the precedent from becoming habit," wrote Lily Adams, the DNC's deputy communications director, in an email to members, Politico reports.

The email refers to a recent remark by Limbaugh suggesting that men should not be criticized for staring at women's breasts. He said men should tell women, "Will you please ask your breasts to stop staring at my eyes?"

The Daily Caller also drew fire from Adams for an op-ed column by writer Patrick Howley, in which he complained that if liberals have their way "men will not be able to look at women's bodies because that is a terrible thing to do."

Adams said the Republican National Committee can reduce the influence of both Limbaugh and The Daily Caller by boycotting them.

"We are going to be in a lot of big fights with Republicans during the election year that starts in just a few days," Adams said in her email. "But surely we can come together in the meantime to put an end to disgusting rhetoric like Limbaugh’s that encourages sexual harassment.”

The Daily Caller's Howley said in a follow-up column Friday that the publication would not be intimidated by the DNC.
