Judy, I felt exactly the same way...I went to bed a lay there bug-eyed for hours, so many tiny pieces falling together...obviously they've been working on this for a very long time.
I tried to watch the press conference, but due to lack of sleep...I went to sleep in my chair...LOL....I wanted to see if any of those reporters had the chitlings to ask a question about immigration...but this is all orchestrated...all done in advance....all nice and neat...all covering the stink from the whitehouse...all worried that they might not have access to the next press conference...gosh they had one a year ago...
I was awake for part of it...the part where he said that lower wage earners should get more in SS than those who earned more money....wow..gotta get right in there and make sure those illegal immigrants who only have to work 18 months to draw ss get their fair share...huh? Paving the road, making it look all thoughtful and considerate...and caring...the bomb goes off later.
Sick, absolutely sick...wondering what we can do and how fast we can do it??

We've got to move fast. Call Microsoft headquarters tomorrow and express your disgust with Bill Gates meeting with the Bush Administration to "end limits on immigration" for programmers--its one of the H1B2...something or other. Check the news article "Gates Wants to End Limits".
GATES NUMBER IS: 425-882-8080 (That's in Redmond, Washington so watch the time change--3 hours difference between there and EST) That's Microsoft, ask to speak to him, they'll say he's unavailable, you say I'd like to speak with his office. You'll get his secretary.
I'll try and make a list and post the companies we know are involved.
We now know Microsoft, Kelloggs, Taco Bell, Home Depot, Ford, etc. Taco Bell is a sponsor of La Raza and advertises on their websites. The Taco Bell here used to have about half and half black and white workers. Two days ago when I went there==100% hispanic. I presume illegal. They were too young to have been on a 15 year waiting list. Looked like a family, Mom, Daughter, Two Sons. Some others in the back.
go to fox...they are re-running the Press Conference with the President.
NOT ONE WORD about the borders or immigration when this is the hottest topic of the past two weeks.
The Press Conference is staged. If you pop an unscripted question, you don't get invited back. And to some extent I understand that, otherwise it could be chaos and off topic.
But now is a good time to hit Microsoft with some calls and hold-backs or boycotts on their products. Fox announced their sales are SLOW. Alittle more slower, and they may need to WAKE UP and get on the right side of this line now drawn in the sand.A Nation Without Borders Is Not A Nation - Ronald Reagan

LOL! Rickty esteves
You crack me up. It is true. I used to be an exotic dancer and unfortunately in houston strip clubs, it helps to know spanish. Most of the guys who gave me most of their money were the mestizo and indian central americans and mexicans. Most of them thought chile was in mexico. They would all say, "what part of mexico is that in". It is so hard to not laugh. I am glad I am not in the profession anymore. Although the money was good. These same mexicans who claim to be working for their families are now flooding strip clubs in texas. That is why I quit. Most of them were cheap and would solicit prostitution. I would try to explain to the mostly feeble minded ones that that is not we(dancers) did.(prostitution) NOw, their are a lot of illegal mexican and central american strippers who disgrace the profession by doing anything with their fellow countrymen in our american strip clubs for very low prices. Then again, the overflow of mexican nationals is what made me wish to leave texas. Now, I live in winthrop, ma which is much nicer. It is an all italian town-very family oriented and very quiet. NO MORE TEJANO MUSIC. YAY!!LOL[/quote]

Stripper elitist?

i said I quit
I dont consider myself to be among the elite. Nor do I care to. I said I used to be in that profession and am not anymore. I am now working as an esthetician. I was putting myself through school. Now I know you are probably going to judge me for that but I don't care. In Texas, you even have to be licensed to be a stripper. They do a background check and everything. The club I worked at had us pay taxes through our tip out as well as pay taxes on credit card sales. I dont miss it much but it did help me get out my wild side. I have settled down since.

is there anything wrong with an ex-exotic dancer into politi
Is there anything wrong with ex exotic dancers reading about immigration issues? Or are you trying to say that I am not good enough to.

From Roy Beck's description of the Ag Jobs amnesty, it's sound like that's a similar plan... Apparently, the illegals would have to work for the same company for 6 years to get permanent-residency status... This kind of labor may be even cheaper than illegal labor.
Changing subjects, I was reading about how farmers in 3rd world countries complain about food imports which are required under trade agreements... They say, "Why do we need to import food, when we can make all the food our country needs?... Importing food just lowers prices and puts us out of work."
I think the same can be said about Western countries with respect to labor... We could say "Why do we have to import labor, when we can produce all the needed goods/services our country needs?... Importing labor just lowers wages and puts us out of work."
Of course, the reason is because the corporate masters benefit...

OK, I'll check it out...
Just to add one bit of trivia, I thought it was interesting that the "free trade" agreement with Australia (signed in 2003 or 2004) prohibited the importation of prescription drugs... This is because the Australian government bargains to keep drugs prices low... So, allowing these drug imports would hurt profit margins.
In other words, companies like "open borders" when they benefit, but not otherwise."We have it in our power to begin the world over again." (Thomas Paine 1776 "Common Sense") "The cause of America is in great measure the cause of all mankind." ("Common Sense")
