RNC official: Trying to block Trump nomination ‘silly’
A top Republican National Committee (RNC) official says there is no credible coup forming against Donald Trump at the convention.
“Donald Trump bested 16 highly qualified candidates and received more primary votes than any candidate in Republican Party history,” RNC Communications Director Sean Spicer said in a statement Friday.
“All of the discussion about the RNC rules Committee acting to undermine the presumptive nominee is silly,” added Spicer, also the RNC’s chief strategist.
"There is no organized effort, strategy or leader of this so-called movement. It is nothing more than a media creation and a series of tweets.”
Reports emerged earlier Friday at least 30 delegates are mounting a longshot attempt at denying Trump the GOP presidential nomination.
The delegates allegedly hope they can alter party rules and stop Trump from becoming their party’s standard-bearer at next month’s Republican National Convention.
Party rules state the majority of Trump’s delegates are bound to vote for him on the convention floor in Cleveland. Any successful coup would require liberating delegates from their commitments in direct violation of current guidelines.
“This literally is an ‘Anybody but Trump’ movement,” Colorado Republican delegate Kendal Unruh, the campaign’s leader, told The Washington Post Friday.
“Nobody has any idea who is going to step in and be the nominee, but we’re not worried about that. We’re just doing that job to make sure that he’s not the face of our party.”
Discontent delegates essentially have two avenues for keeping Trump from clinching the Republican mantle.
One is voting to change the rule so delegates are unbound altogether, and another involves inserting a “conscience clause” in the present rules.
The latter change would let delegates break their pledges based on personal conscience. Neither strategy has gained a critical mass from potential participants.
Trump’s blunt rhetoric and political inexperience has establishment Republicans fearing he may help Hillary Clinton win the White House.
Clinton leads Trump by nearly 6 points nationwide, according to the latest RealClearPolitics average of polls.

The person behind this is a woman named Kendal Unruh, a school government teacher from Colorado. Go figure. You're upset with the educations your children are getting? Well, the problems apparently aren't confined to Democrats, but a few Republicans as well. Kendal Unruh is a Ted Cruz Supporter. I saw part of her interview today on her effort. She's taught government for 2 years at a Christian school.
A truly pathetic display of sore loserism that's got the Democrats so excited they can hardly withhold their glee when they talk about it on the news shows.Last edited by Judy; 06-17-2016 at 10:01 PM.

RNC Stands By Trump: He Is The Nominee
by MICHELLE MOONS
17 Jun 2016
Republican National Committee Chief Strategist & Communications Director Sean Spicer pushed back Friday on reports that an organized effort is pressing forward to prevent presumptive presidential nominee Donald Trump from securing the votes needed to become the official nominee at the convention in July.
Spicer posted the following message in a Friday afternoon tweet:
Donald Trump bested 16 highly qualified candidates and received more primary votes than any candidate in Republican Party history. All of the discussion about the RNC Rules Committee acting to undermine the presumptive nominee is silly. There is no organized effort, strategy or leader of this so-called movement. It is nothing more than a media creation and a series of tweets.

“Dozens” of delegates to the RNC convention were reported to be planning a coup against presumptive nominee Trump according to a Washington Post report. Trump recently revoked the Post’s press credentials for Trump events citing their “inaccurately” reporting of Trump in the course of his presidential campaign. Only four delegates are cited in the Post report on anti-Trump convention plans.
Post owner Jeff Bezos assigned 20 reporters to delve into research on Trump’s history. Bezos has defended the aggressive investigation on Trump despite evidence that a similar effort has not been made to look into Democratic presumptive presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s past. Trump has accused “the owners of Amazon,” which includes Bezos, of using the Post as “their political lobbyist so that they don’t have to pay taxes and don’t get sued for monopolistic tendencies…”
Former senior communications advisor to Gov. Mike Huckabee Hogan Gidley previously told Breitbart News that none of the supposed members of the anti-Trump group are on the Rules Committee and as such, “It’s not viable.”
