Dianne Feinstein May Retire If GOP Takes The Senate

If you weren’t motivated to vote in the November mid-term elections, this should light a fire under your ass: if the Republicans pick up six seats and take over control of the Senate public enemy #1 Dianne Feinstein’s power would greatly be reduced and she might even hang up her gun banning boots and retire.
In other words: vote, damn you vote!
The San Jose Mercury News ran a piece considering the implications of a Republican held Senate. While the paper seems to lament these possible changes I can assure you that a GOP Senate would be a gift, not just to the people of California, but the entire nation:
Californians won’t have any say about which party wins this year’s biggest political prize — the reins of the U.S. Senate. But that doesn’t mean the Golden State has nothing at stake.
What happens in states like Kansas, Michigan, Arkansas and Alaska will determine whether California’s two Democratic senators get to keep two key Senate posts: Dianne Feinstein is head of the Intelligence Committee and Barbara Boxer chairs the Environment and Public Works Committee.
If Feinstein and Boxer suddenly find themselves in the minority party, they will have less clout to make national policy and secure funding for things like the Caldecott Tunnel’s fourth bore or Los Angeles subway improvements, drought relief, and a myriad of programs and causes.
Wrestling power away from whackos like Feinstein and Boxer is awesome, but this puts it over the top:
Some political experts believe losing all that influence might push [Feinstein and Boxer] toward retirement, leading to a mad scramble among ambitious California politicians who have been forced to sit on the sidelines for years.

Boxer — who declined to comment for this story — has said she’ll decide next year whether to seek a fifth term in 2016. But she hasn’t started raising money yet and has little banked.
Feinstein, who’ll be 85 when her current term ends in 2018, is thought to be likely to retire anyway. But wielding less influence might make that decision easier.
Do you really need another reason to make it to the polls in November? How about this:
And, no doubt, a lot of Democrats and left-leaning independents won’t like what a Republican Senate majority decides to do on issues as wide-ranging as immigration, health care, climate change and high-speed rail.
Besides all of the other good stuff that comes with a Republican Senate, we can make Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer as irrelevant as they deserve to be and possibly put them out to pasture. Plus, democrats and lefties will be sad. That’s a win/win/win situation.
But wait, there’s at least one more win. Wicked Witch of the West Nancy Pelosi, who herself is struggling with irrelevancy, will be pissed. Even more so than usual:
“Civilization as we know it today would be in jeopardy if the Republicans win the Senate,” said House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.
As a funny little footnote: the only non-political analyst interviewed for this article was and illegal alien. Seriously, in a piece about US elections the San Jose Mercury News felt the best person to get an opinion from was an illegal alien who can’t even vote. That, right there, is reason enough to stop California’s influence on national politics.
Like I said: don’t forget to vote. This is the most important election in a long time and we need to liberate the Senate from the donkey jokesters.

That is an incentive to get out and vote for Republicans.
