FL Sheriff Busts Illegal Workers at US Military Base

Florida Sheriff Busts Illegal Workers at US Military Base

Florida's Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office was the agency to take action against illegal workers at Eglin Air Force Base because the US Military and other US federal agencies were AWOL. Of course this outrage was covered only by local media. Of course only but a few of the illegal workers were detained.

Fort Walton Beach - Authorities believe that between 30 and 40 illegal aliens were employed in the construction of the 7th Special Forces Complex, but by the time the very thorough 3-month investigation was wrapped up, so was most of the work, and the great majority of the workers were unaccounted for.

Authorities did arrest three illegal aliens, and plan to continue to investigate what they call a case of identity fraud by employees working on critical infrastructure at the 7th Special Forces Complex on Eglin Air Force Base.

Arrested were 23-year old Marlo Contreras of Fort Walton Beach, 27-year old Victor Contreras-Suarez of Fort Walton Beach, and 26-year old Abraham Garcia of Orlando.

Contreras-Suarez is the owner of H&S Drywall, but is married to a U-S citizen whose name is on all contract documents. His company has been working on the 7th Special Forces Project for up to a year and has previously worked on other government construction projects.

Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Inspector George Collins launched the investigation last September after a deputy arrested an admitted illegal alien working at the 7th Special Forces Group construction site. The man told investigators other illegal aliens were also employed at the site, which the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office and state of Florida consider critical Infrastructure.

Collins then coordinated with the U-S Air Force Office of Special Investigations, U-S Army Criminal Investigations Division, and the U-S Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). Their investigation revealed nearly three dozen illegal aliens, and potentially many more, were on the payroll with false, stolen, or fictitious social security numbers.

WJHG-TV, Channel 7 in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, broke the story earlier today. Officials have reason to believe that up to 40 illegal aliens were employed in the construction of the new 7th Special Forces Complex.

Authorities have arrested three workers who failed to produce proper documentation. The other suspects seem to be missing and unaccounted for.

In what could be a massive case of identity fraud the workers were using forged, stolen or falsified Social Security numbers and were all employed by H&S Drywall.

This case is not unlike an incident at Shaw AFB in July of this year.

In the Shaw AFB case there were three illegal aliens who came on base with the contractor Palacio Drywall. That company is reportedly based in Cornelius, North Carolina.

In this case at Eglin AFB, the owner of H&S Drywall, Victor Contreras-Suarez is married to a U.S. citizen. Authorities say that her name is on all documents used to obtain the work contracts.

H&S Drywall has worked on the 7th Special Forces Complex for a year and apparently has worked on other government projects as well.

Okaloosa Sheriff’s Department inspector, George Collins began the investigation into the illegal workers in September of this year after a tip from a previously arrested undocumented worker.

The department considers the 7th Special Forces Complex to be critical infrastructure.

The Sheriff’s Department worked closely with the U.S. Army Criminal Investigations Division as well as the US Army Corps of Engineers. The investigation/manhunt continues.

Examiner’s Commentary: It’s high time that all U.S. military bases take a closer look at who is being allowed on secure sites. Rigorous background checks should be mandatory. Apparently in this state it is far more difficult to lease an apartment than to work on a federal military base. Credit checks, arrest records and full background checks for apartment leasing is standard. In fact, it seems to be a lot harder to board a plane than to get a federal contract to construct a Special Forces Complex. Mr. Secretary of Defense, are you listening?

Did Immigration break this case? No. Did the Social Security Administration notice the stolen identities? No. Did Base Contracting question the legality of the Spanish speaking workers? No. The Sheriff's Office opened the investigation, contacting the US Army Corps of Engineers' for cooperation. Their on-site resident engineer, Jeremiah Walker, failed to return emails and phone calls from the Investigating Officer.

Why would the US Military want to screen for illegal aliens coming onto military installations when their bosses (THE UNITED STATES CONGRESS) gives standing ovations to the leader of the country they are invading from (MEXICO)?

    Anybody?
