Hillary and Her Dirty Tricks

Pre announcement article for 2016 reveals Hillary's gangland style tactics.
    Hillary and Her Dirty Tricks

There is no question that Hillary Clinton has aspirations to make a run for the President’s office again. With her exploratory committees moving around checking the lay of the land, she is already quietly fundraising, knowing darn well she’s going to need quite a bit of a war chest to carry a campaign.

Despite the fact that the very next President’s field for the upcoming elections is one of the weakest seen in years, Hillary also knows it won’t be an even run for her. The disaster of the Libyan Embassy attack in Benghazi is firmly stuck around her neck like an albatross. However, even with that damaging vulnerability, Clinton still remains one of the strongest candidates to watch out for. The reason is telling in terms of which Senators and Representatives actually came after her during the Embassy attack hearings.

Notably, none of the major senior Senators and Representatives on either side of the aisle spent much time grilling Hillary, when she was still the Secretary of State in front of Congressional hearings. It was always junior members who were rookies and didn’t have much to lose. That’s telling. One could argue the junior members were just given their marching orders by senior members. Yet, in reality, it had more to do with Hillary having the power to “use” some of those senior members as cannon fodder in case she needed to protect herself. She had spent plenty of time as a senator herself, doing plenty of intelligence gathering on her peers. And cost is no barrier.

Clinton first made it known she was a power player by how much money she could throw into a campaign, practically buying her way into the Senate ($29 million in 2000, and $36 million in the 2006, 2nd term).

In those same campaigns, Clinton doled out thousands of dollars in benefits and gifts, but potentially compromised her aids, lobbyists, fundraisers and donors by providing them with thank you gifts.

Clinton convinced Republican Senator Bill Frist to carry legislation to modernize hospital record-keeping, one of the preliminary steps of government run healthcare control seen later under the Obama Administration
    .
She helped the Tata Consultancy Services, a major Indian company, gain a foothold in New York, but she voted down on the Central America Free Trade Agreement, flip-flopping on which pro-business issues she liked personally versus voting for the economy. No surprise, Indian donors were notable in Clinton’s Presidency campaign years later.

So the real examination of Hillary and her tricks needs to go far beyond the Libyan Embassy episode. What is really needed to be examined is why it is that senior members of Congress who have significant depth in issues are afraid to take Hillary Clinton in a head-on match.

Further, no one should be expecting Vice President Joe Biden to distract or delay Clinton’s march into the Presidential campaign for the democratic ticket. Biden simply doesn’t measure up to Hillary on a debate level, too often putting his foot in his mouth with dumb statements. He will be his own destruction. And Hillary will be ready to take the nomination from silent peers at the Democratic Convention. Will the senior Republicans behave the same way as well all over again in the campaign? If it’s up to Hillary they will.

Hillary Clinton Supports Destruction of American Jobs, Takes Pay-Offs For Helping Outsourcers

Continuing on the theme of my previous posting re. Hillary Clinton's support for corporate programs to eliminate jobs for American workers, I read a comment by an angry Clinton constituent on
    Progressive Geek

The one-time Clinton supporter discussed Hillary's promise to work to improve the jobs situation in Upstate New York when she first ran for the U.S. Senate. Clinton has done just the opposite and cynically used the jobs issue for election but has no interest in helping American workers once in office.

Here's a brief part of the comment:

"Her entire career in upstate New York has been of a piece in a series of token gestures, creating 10 token window-dressing American jobs for Tata Consulting in Buffalo (what a great trade -- there are more than 10 Indian consultants right now just in my cubicle cluster in Albany!!). It's endemic up here, cheap token gestures like renaming empty streets leading to dead malls and empty office campuses "Computer Avenue" and "Silicon Way"; pointless PR campaigns "re-branding" upstate New York as "Tech Valley"; setting up a local non-union "Charter School" in technology with enrollments of 40 kids who probably spend more time being photographed with politicians than learning."

The comment came in response to a very important story of how the Clinton campaign was actively seeking the support of key U.S. and foreign "big money" in the Offshore Outsourcing business. The article referenced appeared in the LA Times, "Clinton woos the outsourcers feared by U.S. workers". This article is also well worth a read, essentially underscoring the tremendous reality lost in the much misunderstood Obama campaign claim that Hillary Clinton was essentially representing the interests of the Indian offshore outsourcing business elites.

Here's one fine quote from the article which gives some indication of how offshore outsourcing money is helping to power the Hillary Clinton campaign:

"Clinton is successfully wooing wealthy Indian Americans, many of them business leaders with close ties to their native country and an interest in protecting outsourcing laws and expanding access to worker visas.

Her campaign has held three fundraisers in the Indian American community recently, one of which raised close to $3 million, its sponsor told an Indian news organization.

But in Buffalo, the fruits of the Tata deal have been hard to find. The company, which called the arrangement Clinton's "brainchild," says "about 10" employees work here. Tata says most of the new employees were hired from around Buffalo. It declines to say whether any of the new jobs are held by foreigners, who make up 90% of Tata's 10,000-employee workforce in the United States."
The quote from John Miano at the Programmer's Guild reminds me very much of the criticisms faced by Harris Miller in last year's Virginia Dem. primary:

"It's just two-faced," said John Miano, founder of the Programmers Guild, one of several high-tech worker organizations that have sprung up as outsourcing has expanded. "We see her undermining U.S. workers and helping the offshoring business, and then she comes back to the U.S. and says, 'I'm concerned about your pain.' "

TATA or TCS, the Indian Offshore Outsourcing and H-1b bodyshop mentioned in the article imports thousands of Indian guest workers into the US to facilitate offshore outsourcing of jobs to India or replace American workers in the U.S. with imported Indian workers also in the U.S.

The key in both cases is the so-called "guest worker" programs (e.g., H-1b, L-1) supposedly created because of "shortages of American workers" (a widespread myth concocted at great effort and cost by outsourcing and anti-worker lobbies).

Hillary Clinton is all about LIES -- lies propping up bigger lies to help make the rich and powerful more rich and more powerful leading to the sort of sharply reduced living standards for the majority of Americans now increasingly in evidence all over the U.S.

This started in 2001 and looks like a joint (no pun intended) effort.
    Clinton meets Ambanis, Ratan Tata

    By Our Special Correspondent

MUMBAI, APRIL 6. The former U.S. President, Mr. Bill Clinton, had a private meeting here today with Mr. Dhirubhai Ambani, Chairman, Reliance Industries Limited, and Mr. Ratan Tata, Chairman, Tata Group.

The meeting with Mr. Ambani lasted for approximately two hours and was followed by lunch at his Cuffe Parade residence, a Reliance official said. ``It was a courtesy call,'' he said. In the evening, Mr. Clinton met Mr. Tata for half-an-hour.

Mr. Clinton's tour, under the aegis of the American India Foundation (AIF), is focussed on helping to rehabilitate the victims of Gujarat earthquake.

He also attended a special dinner in the evening, which was attended by a host of dignitaries, industrialists and film personalities. Mr. Anil Ambani, Mr. Mukesh Ambani, Mr. Hrithik Roshan, Mr. Rakesh Roshan, Mr. Anand Mahindra, Mr. Subroto Roy, chief of the Sahara group, Mr. Sanjay Dutt, Ms. Shabana Azmi and Ms. Raveena Tandon were among those present.

At the gathering, Mr. Clinton said Indians in the U.S. had benefited in the same way as Americans had from the Indians. It was time for the Americans to contribute towards India's development, he said, adding that he was pleased to associate with the AIF. The Foundation would take up short-term and long- term disaster management programmes.

The Taj Group of Hotels is proud to host former US President, William Jefferson Clinton, on his current visit to India. Mr Clinton is visiting India to help raise funds for the American India Foundation (AIF), to be utilised for the relief and rehabilitation of the people affected by the earthquake in Gujarat.

During his visit to Mumbai, Mr Clinton will be staying at a special suite in the Heritage Wing at the Taj Mahal Hotel, Mumbai. And at Ahmedabad, he will stay at the Taj Residency.

RK Krishna Kumar, managing director, Indian Hotels, said, "The Taj Group of Hotels is privileged and honoured to have Mr Clinton stay with us, both in Mumbai and in Ahmedabad. We are confident that efforts by Mr Clinton and the AIF will contribute extensively to the relief and rehabilitation of Gujarat."

The Taj Group of Hotels is India’s largest and finest hotel chain offering over 50 hotels in 36 locations across South Asia.

Indian outsourcer Tata cashes in on offshoring

Revenue was up 42 percent, profit was up 33 percent over the same quarter last year

    By John Ribeiro

    Jul 18, 2006

India outsourcer Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Tuesday reported gains in both revenue and profit for the quarter ended June 30, reflecting a growing demand for offshore services and the depreciation of the Indian rupee against major currencies.

TCS, of Mumbai, is India's largest software and services outsourcer.

Revenue for the period was $900 million, up by 42 percent from the same quarter last year. Profit for the quarter increased by 33 percent from a year earlier to $187 million.

[ Simon Phipps tells it like it is: Why software patents are evil. | Read Bill Snyder's Tech's Bottom Line blog for what the key business trends mean to you. ]The results are based on U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and refer to the first quarter of the company's fiscal year, which runs from April 1 to March 31 next year.

About 53 percent of the company's revenue in the quarter came from exports to North America, with another 27 percent from Europe. The company earned about 41 percent of its revenue from the banking and financial services industry. The company added 62 clients during the quarter, taking the total to 764.

The company hired 4,698 employees, increasing the headcount as of June 30 to 71,190. The company's staff attrition rate was 10.6 percent.

TCS' strong showing reflects an overall buoyancy in the Indian outsourcing industry. India's exports of software and services are expected to grow by 27 percent to 30 percent in the year ending March 31, to post revenue between $29 billion to $31 billion, India's National Association of Software and Service Companies said in June.

Tata faces employee lawsuit in the U.S.

Suit charges that Tata's non-U.S.-citizen employees are being required to sign over their tax refund checks

    By John Ribeiro
    Feb 15, 2006

An Indian employee of Tata America International has filed Tuesday a lawsuit in an U.S. court, charging that Tata has unjustly enriched itself by requiring all of its employees in the U.S. who are not U.S. citizens to endorse and sign over their federal and state tax refund checks to Tata.

The employee's law firm, Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein, announced Tuesday that Gopi Vedachalam filed a nationwide class action lawsuit in U.S. District Court in San Francisco against Tata America International, and its parent corporations Tata Consultancy Services and Tata Sons.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is India's largest software and services outsourcer. Indian outsourcers typically depute staff to the U.S. to work on client's sites.

A spokesman for TCS in Mumbai said that the company has as yet not received the papers relating to the case. "We have however been advised that we are compliant with all state and federal laws (in the U.S.)," he added.

The case constitutes one of the first class action lawsuits for violation of labor laws against a company engaged in "reverse outsourcing," bringing foreign citizens to the U.S. to work in U.S. corporations, the law firm said.

The complaint charges that most Tata employees in the U.S. are not U.S. citizens. These employees are granted visas, which allow them to work and live in the country. Tata requires each employee to sign an agreement which states that the employee's gross amount of compensation will be includable as earnings in the U.S. and reported to the U.S. Internal Revenue Service. The complaint alleges that these employees are not paid the amount promised them in these agreements.

The complaint further alleges that at least until July last year Tata required its employees that were not U.S. citizens to sign power of attorney agreements delegating an outside agency to calculate and submit each employee's tax return to state and federal authorities. Tata then required these employees who received tax refunds from state and federal tax authorities to endorse the tax refund checks and send them back to Tata, according to the complaint.

The complaint charges that Tata's conduct violates California Labor Code Section 221 which makes it unlawful "for any employer to collect or receive from an employee any part of wages theretofore paid by said employer to said employee."

From 2000 to 2003, plaintiff Gopi Vedachalam worked in Hayward, California, as a Tata project manager, according to information provided by the law firm. Since 2003, he has worked as a Tata project manager for a client in Woodland Hills, California. Vedachalam is asking the federal court to certify the case as a class action and issue an injunction against Tata, preventing it from requiring its employees to endorse their tax refund checks to the company to the extent it is still doing so. The complaint also seeks compensation and damages for current and former employees who were not paid what they were promised and who were deprived of their tax refunds.

Candidates with backbone could make immigration a major issue by focusing jobs lost by Americans, control of potential terrorists lost by the border patrol, and criminals released into an unknowing population.

Absolutely! Oh, if we only had some old-fashioned Radical Republicans in there, we'd be knocking heads and ending this nightmare.
