In case that the Senate immigration reform bill is passed, the more than three million undocumented immigrants would who would not qualify for legalization since they have not been in the United States for more than two years, openly oppose leaving the country voluntarily.
This was revealed by a study realized bu the Illinois Juan Diego Center for Immigrant Rights. This conclusion is shared by activists, community leaders, and immigrant representatives throughout the Midwest.
According to the president of the Federation of Michoacanos of the Midwest, Ruben Chavez, the document elaborated by the senate put in alert the millions of Mexican nationals who assume the legislative proposal will be approved. “That's why the immediate consequence has been the general declaration by the people affected by this measure, that they will not leave the United States, faced with such a discriminatory and marginal attitude,” said Chavez.
While Rosendo Robles, Secretary of Foreingn Relations of the Federation of United Zacatecan Clubs of Illinois, commented that in the end, legislators are falling into the same game as twenty years ago, when an amnesty was declared and millions of undocumented workers remained in the country, who at the same time formed families, which added to the millions who came later, now make up the twelve thousand who aspire to get legalization.

For real, why would they leave when they can evade the law? And the rest of Mexico is running for our border to risk their lives crossing the desert now that the Senate has passed S2611....these are desparate people who will do everything to stay here illegally even though we are informing them of the legal way to immigrate. They are not going to play by the rules!

Sell out now, before there is a glut of cheap houses and used cars on the market and you can still take some dollars to Mexico with you.

Dixie,
If they're so desperate, where do they get the money to pay the coyotes?

Good points on my saying they're desperate....I guess I was just thinking how much they want to live the American Dream (which is rapidly becoming the American nightmare!).

We've wondered about that fairly often. It takes MONEY to reestablish in another country..believe me, I know having moved internationally on the average of once every six months for several years. Even with help from the company for moving expense it still costs a LOT.
Someone is helping them do this. Probably our own tax dollars...Yes, I know I am a cynic.
