Diversion tactic
I just got up and heard that Bush is diverting attention to the ban on gay marriage issue again. He'll do anything to get those ratings back up! And furthermore, he's speaking with forked tongues over it....he pushed a ban in his campaign, then last year said there was no need to push the ban....so obviously he's dredging up anything to save some Republican butts this year and boost ratings.
I feel that he's reaching out to conservatives after the S2611 passed the senate and so many Republican constituents are peeved over it. We need to make sure this doesn't get more attention than the immigration issue....keep illegal immigration in the limelight!
Any other thoughts?

You are exactly right krazynbama. This whole marriage amendment thing is nothing but the Republican party and the Bush administration trying to throw a bone to their conservative base.
Don't fall victim to this crap...everybody knows that this has absolutely no chance of passing. But you wait and see how the backstabbers will JUMP AT LIGHT SPEED to vote for it...
They are desperate to throw a bucket of water on all their constituents that have been plugging their fax machines and email boxes. They are feeling it...when a whole crowd of people are telling you that you are a horses's ass you don't feel very comfortable.

The Republican Party thinks that if they start talking about abortion and gays, it will bring up their poll numbers.....either they still don't get what the #1 issue is, or they don't want to get it....because it IS illegal immigration that is driving down their poll numbers.
Personally, I don't think the government should be involved in abortion, gays, smoking tobacco, seat belts, now it's going to be food, how much one eats, what they eat.....
American's have cried for years over so many things (that government should not be in), and then asked the government to do something, or they sue....now we have government involved in everything!
-
I totally agree moosetracks! I keep thinking of "Big Brother" in 1984 novel. The things government should be in, they put off, downplay and ignore such as illegal immigration. Many of these other issues seem to intermingle church and state, and I was thinking they shouldn't be wasting time on it when we have such other issues as Iraqi war, etc....

He is trying to rally the Christian Majority! Got to keep those Catholics happy.
You know what! I say give them gay marriage, just don't give them gay divorce. That will put a stop to that real quick.

You all got it. Great. Taking it to the next level.Did you expect it or note it when it broke the horizon?
And guess what role the President has in amending the Constitution?
NONE as in ZERO. It is purely a super majority legislative procedure requiring 2/3 of the U.S. House, 2/3 of the U.S. Senate and 3/4 of the states.
So what bush is empowered to do..enforce immigration laws.....he won't do.....and what he has no role in......amending the Constitution....he is pushing for....hmm
DEPORT ILLEGAL ALIENS
USE THE MILITARY TO SEAL OUR BORDER
IMPEACH TREASONOUS BUSH

why does he want an amendment to the Constitution banning gay marriage -- isn't the Constitution nothing but a ******* piece of paper? -- an amendment wouldn't be worth the paper it's written on.
He told the American people troops would be on the border by June 1 -- they still aren't there
the ONLY thing the American people can be sure of is the fact the President and the Senate are working for Mexico and illegals, NOT the American people and the rule of law

We all know this is a smokescreen - it is so obvious.
This President and his advisors get really silly when they get backed into a corner.
If we don't get some sensible people in Washington, we are lost. That is assuming there are any sensible people left that would take the job.
Just like abortion, this can work for both sides however. It is a cash cow in contributions for either side. Of course, since both sides are working in tandem on the issue most important today - it doesn't matter.
We all know the President should be enforcing the laws - but why is congress sitting back doing nothing for all these years.
Congress doesn't want it either. If they had, they would have been out there pressing the issue for years now. They haven't. They like it also. They are also traitors - except for a few - far too few.
