FEDERAL 'ANTI-HATE' BILL INTRODUCED IN HOUSE

On January 5, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, quietly introduced the federal hate crimes bill into the House of Representatives. This is the same hate bill she introduced two years ago, which was passed by the House in fall 2005. Previously called The Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act, this freedom-stealing legislation has been repeatedly defeated, usually as a result of public outcry and Republican opposition in Conference.

Lee has dramatically changed the title. It is now The David Ray Hate Crimes Prevention Act, in memory of a Texan adolescent brutally sodomized with a metal pipe. Ray replaces Matthew Shephard as the new poster boy of hate law propaganda. Many in Congress will be inclined to pass this legislation with their sympathy votes.

Rep. Lee’s office told me that since the House passed this bill in 2005, it could rapidly pass to the floor for a vote. If there is strong bipartisan support in Congress for a defunct bill, it can be resurrected in committee in minutes, by calling for a vote of approval.

The hate bill enjoys this kind of strong bipartisan support; it passed the House previously by a large margin. We know for sure that Pelosi hopes to have it ratified during their “first 100 hours.”

Take Action Now

Here’s what all lovers of free speech must do, preferably before the weekend:

Go to our list of “Hate Bill Subcommittee Members.” This is the “Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security,” the House Judiciary Committee that will consider this bill.


Call all members of this committee, including Sheila Jackson Lee tomorrow and give the following message: “Please don’t vote for The David Ray Hate Crimes Prevention Act, HR 254. Hate crimes laws such as this have destroyed free speech in Canada and most European countries.”

Rep. Lee’s office said bills’ progress through committee depends on how much support or criticism they receive. It’s time to bury the hate bill in an avalanche of protest from tens of thousands of Americans! This is how we defeated the hate bill three times in the last two years. This is how we can again save free speech for our children, our grandchildren and ourselves.

This is BAD...........plain GARBAGE

Shelia Jackson is the one full of hate. She is still preaching the "victimolgy" that has kept people oppressed. In England you can go to jail just for calling another ethnic group a name. Several children have been jailed for doing that. It is a heinous piece of legislation that strikes at the heart of free speech. If you assault a person, you could get, say, 3 years, but if you call them a name at the same time, then you could get 5 years. Even a simple altercation could be turned into a serious offense by adding "hate" to it. And how do you prove "hate crimes"? How do you judge if the person had "hate"......it's absurd!

Civil rights used to be about treating everyone the same. But today some people are so used to special treatment that equal treatment is considered to be discrimination. ....

It is hard to think of any word that has confused more issues than the word "rights." Nowadays, almost anything that anybody wants is called a "right" -- a magic word that does away with the need for evidence, logic or even common sense. _Thomas Sowell

I have never understood the term "hate crime". I have never seen anyone assulted by a person who liked them.

The scary thing about "hate crimes" is that people are being punished for what they are supposedly THINKING! People are being punished for their opinions, thoughts, or prejudices on top of the actual offense!

A hate crime is the only way they can go over our first Amendment....We must fight this tooth and nail. If they get this through then our rights are going to be much less.

I'm so sure that Americans will never stand hor this used horsefeed that I'm going to go on record as stating my hatred for Sheila Jackson Lee and her fellow adherents to the cult of victimology. They're the legislative equivalent of the ambulance-chasing attorneys whose ads clutter late-night cable TV, and her sincerity ranks right up there with that of Iranian President Ahmadinejad when he claims his oil-drenched nation is developing nuclear technology for its energy needs.
