Reader vigorously opposes Free Trade Area of the Americas
The Sunday edition of the Times Leader featured a front-page news article concerning the Free Trade Area of the Americas. The article correctly reported the disagreement among delegates at a two-day summit, but seemed to cast a positive light on FTAA. It did not, however, tell the full story -- it is much more than a “free trade agreement. Our U.S. Senators and
Representatives should reject FTAA for the following compelling reasons:
• It undermines the U.S. Constitution that Congress and the President are sworn to uphold. Disputes between member nations would be handled by a governing board which will have authority to override our own Constitution. Sadly, our own President is pushing for ratification of this agreement.
• It will erode the independence and sovereignty of the United States and 33 other nations in the Western Hemisphere much the same as the European Union has done in Europe.
• It will multiply the devastating effects of NAFTA, which, according to the Economic Policy Institute, resulted in the loss of over 900,000 American jobs as of 2003.
• It will in effect erase our nation’s borders, opening the way for even greater numbers of immigrants who want our jobs, our benefits, and our land, as well as terrorists who aim to destroy our way of life.
• It is the next step toward the “new world order or UN world government, as affirmed in documented statements by David Rockefeller, Henry Kissinger, Newt Gingrich, Vice President Dick Cheney, and Mack McLarty, President Clinton’s chief of staff.
This proposed agreement is little more than a Western Hemisphere version of the European Union packaged and sold to the American people as a so-called “trade agreement. We should vigorously oppose this suicidal transfer of U.S. sovereignty to globalist interests.

Great Letter and WOW, I couldn't have written it better myself. This writer made all the important points.
Thanks Butterbean for finding it and posting it.
Word is getting around and Americans Are Waking Up!!
BTW--CAFTA did the same thing with the Central American countries and the other 38 Free Trade Agreements that didn't receive any publicity that have already been ratified into law by this Idiotic Congress and signed into law by this Traitor President.

GREAT find, BBean! I was going to say the same thing that Judy said. The only thing the letter didn't address was CAFTA. Of course, the full ramifications of CAFTA haven't come to fruition yet.
