Donald Trump Launches Ad: Ted Cruz Is For Amnesty

    by CHARLIE SPIERING
    22 Jan 2016

A new ad from Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump accuses Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) of supporting amnesty.

The ad features an interview the Texas Senator did with Fox News host Bret Baier in December defending his amendment to the “Gang of Eight” Senate bill.

Cruz stumbled over his words during the interview, arguing his amendment was to “defeat Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)’s amnesty” and not to allow illegal immigrants to obtain legal status.

Trump highlights an interview he did in January, when he vowed to secure the borders.

This video was already posted here:

My response: Difficult to ascertain the full context around cuts and soundbites. Besides that, how many times has Trump altered his positions on immigration? Never did much care for attack ads because they never tell the full story. IMO, Trump would be better served using his valuable commercial time to speak on what he's going to do for Americans and America, not attacking others.

So you didn't see the live interview of Bret Baier interviewing Ted Cruz on this? There are no cuts. That's exactly how it was, it was hysterical. Way to go Trump!! And good for Trump using that sworn testimony from the Senate hearings in 2013. I found them and sent them to the campaign in case they didn't know about them or hadn't seen them. I saw that testimony in 2013 which is why I've always known Ted Cruz was an amnesty supporter and knew the minute he LIED to the American People in the December 15 debate when Marco cornered him and even asked the Moderator to make him answer the question and when Ted FINALLY answered after being asked 3 times by Rubio and 2 times by the Moderator, HE LIED.

What's your point? I was just letting folks know the ad was also posted elsewhere. I didn't say it was a duplicate.

Cruz was attempting to expose the amnesty folks for what they were. He proved they would accept nothing less than a full pathway to citizenship for the illegals. Good work Cruz, goal accomplished. Sen. Sessions has already explained how hard Cruz worked with him to kill the gang of eight amnesty bill. I can only assume you weren't listening because I don't believe you would call Sen. Sessions a liar on that fact.

I'm saying the video in the ad has not been "cut". You mentioned "cuts".

I've already called Sessions out on that and questioned why he would get involved in something that sworn testimony proves is false.

And the bill passed by a Super Majority in spite of Cruz's so-called efforts. The way it looks now, all Republicans were worried about was whether these people could ever become citizens and vote some day. I'm not part of that block. If you legalize them, and give them permanent green cards to be here, then they should have the right to become citizens at some point. Under the Gang of Eight Bill, the people eligible for citizenship were people who had a) already been here at least 12 years, which is what it took to be eligible to stay and b) been here 13 more years as a legal resident. So after 25 years of living and working in the US, only then would they be eligible to become a citizen through normal naturalization procedures, application, study for test, pass test, take oath, etc.

From a civil rights standpoint, I don't support a second class population that is not part of the citizenry. That's like the slavery days and the way Saudis take advantage of Pakistanis they haul in to do work but can never be part of Saudi Arabia. That's not an American Value and most certainly is not a Republican Value. The Republican Party was founded to end slavery and ensure equal rights for our people. So any plan to "let them stay" or give them "legal permanent residency" need to include a pathway to citizenship under US naturalization law.

If you don't support that, then we must deport them like Trump wants to do.

I want them all out of the country on the earliest possible date using deportation forces, using the full force of the law, whatever it takes to find all illegal aliens in the US and deport them, the same way we hunt down any other criminal.

What are you not understanding here? This is fairly simple to comprehend.

The tapes of the Senate Hearings and Senate vote prove otherwise.
