El Paso, Texas (CBS HOUSTON) – The Department of Homeland Security is looking to fulfill an order for thousands of pairs of men’s underwear – with hundreds of the requested men’s briefs in the 5X and 6X-large sizes.
A solicitation posted earlier this month by the Immigration & Customs Enforcement office seeks thousands of “White 100% Cotton Men’s Briefs” ranging from mediums to hundreds of 6X-large pairs of the underwear.
ICE facilities have seen a recent influx of detained immigrants awaiting deportation, during which time, the detention facilities require such basic items for the detained aliens, Breitbart reported. The ICE orders for the underwear are not unusual for the immigration detention facilities, according to ICE officials.
“This [request for quote] is a normal solicitation for routinely procured items needed at ICE-owned detention facilities around the country,” an ICE spokesperson explained to Breitbart News on Monday. “At ICE-owned detention facilities, the agency is required to provide basic necessities in order to feed and clothe detained aliens.”
The solicitation placed through Federal Business Opportunities cites that the large order – and large underwear – are bound for El Paso, Texas.
But such clothing orders may likely be needed in similar alien detention facilities across the southwestern U.S.
Earlier this month, more than 1,000 unaccompanied Central American children crowded into a Border Patrol facility in Nogales, Ariz. The flood of Central American minors has increased dramatically since last year, sparking what President Barack Obama called an “urgent humanitarian situation” near southwestern U.S. borders.
According to Green Valley News, the children are given medical exams, background checks, food, clothing and showers in the period before they are deported. However, a Border Patrol spokesman said that the agency is not accepting clothing or toy donations because there is not enough staff to inspect the items for cleanliness or safety.
State Sen. Andrea Dalessandro, D-Sahuarita, said there is not enough space in the crowded holding facilities to handle donations of clothing.
DHS data on arrested unaccompanied minors shows that since Oct. 1, there have been 11,577 from Mexico, 13,282 from Honduras and 11,479 from Guatemala. There have been 9,850 from Salvador.

The feds are not just being besieged by migrants pouring in from Mexico, they’re dealing with a startling influx of illegal fatties!
The Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency has put out a bid for 42,000 pairs of white 100-percent-cotton men’s briefs — and are in desperate need of super-sizes like 4,800 size “2X-Large,” 4,800 “3X-Large” and “4X-Large,” and 3,600 “5X-Large.”
The nation’s elastic border is stretching even further. The ICE officials say they also need 2,400 pairs of “6X-Large” underwear — a garment that retailers say can fit someone weighing as much as 500 pounds.
The contract solicitation, requiring delivery within 30 days, was posted June 5.
The items need to be delivered to El Paso, Texas, right at the belly of a wave of illegal immigration.
“We have to accommodate all varieties of sizes since we encounter a global population,” ICE spokesman Carl Rusnok told The Post.
Contracting agent Jason Martin of FedBid.com said he had never before heard of purchasing such large underwear.
“I think 4[X] is the biggest I’ve seen or heard of,” he said.
Casual Male XL in New Hyde Park was selling three-packs of Harbor Bay 6XL men’s briefs for $30 a pack on Monday.
“A very portly guy would wear this,” a store employee said. “It looks like a pair of pants.”
Alan Schlosser, owner of Edward Alan Big & Tall in Commack, LI, called it “unfortunate” that there is actually a “fair amount” of demand for the huge size 6X underwear.
“We do carry the size, and unfortunately, many people wear it,” he said. “Why’s it unfortunate? Because it’s rather unhealthy.”
Anyone ordering such a size probably weighs in at 450 or 500 pounds, Schlosser said.
“I never weighed these people, but I have to assume that’s what they weigh,” he added.

Many of the thousands of illegal immigrant children and teens crossing the United States border are carrying deadly contagious diseases that could easily create a major health crisis in this country, doctors say.
In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News, Dr. Jane Orient, an internal medicine specialist and the Executive Director of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS), said that by admitting these huge groups of children who come from countries where medical screenings are minimal and hygiene is poor, the United States is at risk for epidemics of serious diseases and viruses that the nation has not seen in years.
“Tuberculosis (TB) is the single most dangerous disease because it is highly contagious and can be easily picked up at the mall, at a school, or on the bus,” Orient told Breitbart News. “Cases coming from south of the U.S. border can be very resistant to medications. They don’t respond to traditional antibiotics, and the few drugs they may respond to are often toxic, with lots of side effects.”
“Legal immigrants have always been required to undergo health screenings,” Orient continued, “but these kids coming have no medical screenings and no vaccine records. They’re likely coming here with a number of infectious diseases that will spread like wildfire.”
“Norovirus is also an extremely contagious virus with symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea,” she explained. “All we need is one outbreak of that virus and we would have an overwhelming public health crisis.”
“We use a lot of intravenous fluids to rehydrate people who have these types of illnesses. What if we have a shortage of IV fluids? Our emergency rooms would be overloaded.”
“We no longer have natural immunity against diseases such as measles and chicken pox because we haven’t had them in this country for years,” Orient said. “Many doctors have never even seen these diseases so may not recognize them.”
Orient said that while the public health risks are enough of a serious concern, she also is worried about the psychological trauma of these young children sent away from their families at such an early age.
“Despite the reasons we hear about why families are sending babies and toddlers across the U.S. border, there’s no substitute for a mother’s love and closeness, even if you live in a dangerous area, with gangs and drug cartels,” Orient said. “Why not build secure facilities in Guatemala, for example, instead of sending toddlers and children on a dangerous trip where they’ll encounter even more criminals?”
Writing at The Monitor on Friday, Dr. Elizabeth Lee Vliet, a physician with practices in both Tucson and Dallas, agreed with Orient. She noted that the “invisible travelers” coming across the U.S. border, in addition to TB and measles, include hepatitis, malaria, Chagas disease – a parasitic infection – and dengue fever.
“A public health crisis, the likes of which I have not seen in my lifetime, is looming,” Vliet stated.
Hardest hit by exposures to these difficult-to-treat diseases will be elderly, children, immunosuppressed cancer patients, and patients with chronic lung disease or congestive heart failure. Drug-resistant tuberculosis is the most serious risk, but even diseases like measles can cause severe complications and death.“Other illnesses, along with scabies and head lice, also thrive as children are transported by bus and herded into crowded shelters – courtesy of the federal government,” wrote Vliet. “And treatment costs are borne by taxpayers.”
Orient affirmed that, in Tucson, school buildings that have not been in use in years are being considered as shelters for the young illegal immigrants.
“Some of these buildings are in total disrepair, having been vandalized for years, and, of course, there is no security,” she explained.
“Our public health departments complain of being overtaxed by a dozen cases of measles or whooping cough,” Vliet wrote. “How will they cope with thousands of patients with many different, and uncommon, diseases? Americans, especially Medicaid patients, will see major delays for treatment.”

Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC), an anti-amnesty group, is urging Americans to mail their dirty underwear to the White House and House Speaker John Boehner after the Federal government put in a request for new briefs to provide the illegal immigrants flowing over the U.S.’s southern border.
The Department of Homeland Security recently made a solicitation for thousands of “White 100% Cotton Men’s Briefs” from medium sizes to 6X large pairs.
The solicitation, posted on the Federal Business Opportunities website, says that the underwear are bound for El Paso, Texas.
“This [request for quote] is a normal solicitation for routinely procured items needed at ICE-owned detention facilities around the country,” an immigration official told Breitbart earlier this month. “At ICE-owned detention facilities, the agency is required to provide basic necessities in order to feed and clothe detained aliens.”
But ALIPAC has a better idea for anyone who wants to send whitie-tighties to the Feds.
“Obama and Boehner have proven once and for all that their talk of passing immigration reform amnesty, instead of enforcing America’s existing border and immigration laws, only brings more unwanted and destructive illegal immigration!” said William Gheen, president of ALIPAC, on the group’s website.
“Instead of using our tax money to buy illegals 42,000 pairs of new underwear, we would like to send the illegals and DC politicians a message by mailing them our used underwear, and some of our pairs are in really bad shape due to the bad economy and all of the jobs illegal immigrants are taking from Americans.”
ALIPAC concludes that Americans upset over the government’s failure to fix the Nation’s immigration problems are “encouraged to mail their used underwear to Barack Obama at The White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20500, and John Boehner at Office of the Speaker, H-232 The Capitol, Washington, DC 20515.”
