    Civics 101 Question

The more I get into how our government works, the more I am convinced that it works in mysterious ways.

There were many articles in the news this morning stating that 'negotiations' on the immigration issue have 'yet to begin'. I had thought that they would be in the House Judiciary Committee, but I don't see anything on their calendar.

Where do these 'negotiations' take place? Is it a formal committee? If so, who is on it? How can I follow what is being done? I don't want to read about it in the news after it is a 'done deal'; I want to influence the process itself.

Actually the American people should be voting on this, it shouldn't be up for discussion by politicians, thats a sure fire way to get it screwed up.

In theory, we elected representatives to look out for our interests so that we wouldn't have to vote on every single issue forever and ever. However, it seems that the representatives we elected have the same wedge driven between them as the wedge that has effectively been driven between various groups of American citizens and therefore the government no longer works. Now that the name of the game is "no holds barred" if it means gaining political favor rather than gentlemanly or lady like conduct and rational discussion, many of the reps are not even mentally capable of doing their jobs. Unfortunately, the voters look at the elections as a popularity contest rather than who can do the best job.

Well, I would say that the problem lies with the direct election of senators. The House of Representatives appears to be doing what it is meant to do in this case - representing the wishes of the People. The Senate, however, was originally created to see to the interests of the states, which is why they were appointed by the state legislatures. Once the method of selection changed to direct election, it gave the influence peddlers another layer of government their dollars could easily purchase. Because each state has only two senators, and because each senator must run a statewide race, only those with sufficient monetary backing can run and the fat cats only have to be able to buy four individuals in a 6-year cycle.

What we are seeing in the Senate is the bough and paid for lackeys of big business and internationalism utterly disregarding the interests of their respective states and kowtowing to their internationalist owners.

Crockett, I think guys like Ted Kennedy and John McCain are living proof that senate seats are purchased. You did an excellent job of describing how it happened to be that way.

Thanks. I try to cut to the chase. We certainly should feel justified in blaming the big-money globalists for the violence they have done to our intended form of government, but we also have ourselves to blame for so easily and repeatedly being duped into making things easier for them.

Even now we are being strong-armed into further altering our system to the benefit of tyrants and globalists. Whether it's problems like terrorism being leveraged to convince us that we must surrender liberties for security or the government-created illegal immigration convincing us that we need a national ID card, we keep falling for the same dirty tricks.

Let's look at the ID card issue rationally. Why is it that we "need" a national ID card? We are led to believe that we need such an ID so that foreign interlopers cannot steal services meant for American taxpayers. But is that a legitimate solution in any wise? Who here believes for a moment that such an ID would solve the problem? The dirtbag politicos who want to cater to the illegals will just come up with other workarounds so that they can give our tax dollars away to these invaders. After all, most of the benefit fraud could be eliminated if states were allowed to simply demand the forms of identification that we already have, such as birth certificates and DLs. But this is all beside the point, which is that the services the illegals are stealing are from programs that the federal government has no business operating in the first place. Retirement plans and charity were NEVER meant to be legitimate functions of the federal government. One could fairly question whether they are legitimate functions of ANY branch of government. But the government has slowly usurped the institutions of the private sector and stolen our money through taxes prohibited by Art. 1, Sec. 9 to fund these unauthorized programs. It then gives the funds away to those never intended by the American people to be recipients and subjects us to oppressive requirements so that we may reclaim our own tax dollars and ostensibly protect them from crooks and foreigners that the government granted access to in the first place.

The end result is that the government has vast control over us, can monitor each of us at will through our "numbers," and can modify our behavior by requiring specific performance in order for us to have our money back.

I say, and not lightly, that the ONLY real solution is to reclaim our original form of republican government, eschewing the "democracy" that we have been brainwashed to believe is the intended form of government, to toss the globalists out on their sorry arses, to take back control of our monetary system and seize the ill-gotten assets of the fraudulent Federal Reserve, and reinstitute the intended "bottom-up" form of government in which ALL issues not specifically required to be dealt with at the federal level (common defense, international trade and treaties, control of the borders, regulation of interstate commerce, etc.) are legislated and adjudicated at the local and state level under the old system of substantive due process.
