Just one day after European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker makes the statement that Italians want to remain in the EU, it has emerged that, in fact, LESS THAN HALF of all Italians want to be part of the EU.
The surprising result of a new poll reveals that less than half of all Italians would now vote to remain in the European Union if Italy decided to have a referendum.
Eurobarometer have released the results of their survey that finds only 44 per cent of Italians would now back remaining in the EU. This is the lowest support for EU membership of ANY country, even lower than Britain, who voted to LEAVE in their 2016 referendum.
Just yesterday Jean-Claude Juncker claimed that “Europe needs Italy and Italy needs Europe,” Juncker said the EU would not survive Italy exiting the bloc. He stated recent surveys suggest that the majority of Italian people are in favour of Italy being in the eurozone.
Also yesterday, the ever rising in popularity, Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini, spoke via video to the Italian people describing Italy’s new Law on Security and Immigration.
He very bluntly and openly discussed the verbal assaults, including those by Mr. Juncker. Matteo has previously threatened to sue Brussels after Jean-Claude’s irresponsible comments sent the yield on Italian benchmark bonds to a four-and-a-half year high, whilst shares in Italian banks dropped.
After today’s revelation that there is less support to back EU membership by the Italian people than in any other country, the question now is, will there be an Exitalia? Italiaexit? Itexit?
