    What are your kids learning

I was talking to my grandson today, he's going into the first grade next week so we were going over his numbers and the alphabet, he did fairly well and I told him he did good. I then asked him now that he knew so much what was he going to learn in first grade......his answer floored me.....he said right out....spanish!
I am so upset right now I don't know what to do, the kid is just learning english, how is he going to learn a different language that his parents can not speak when he is just learning english and for that matter why spend the time and money to do so? If he wants to learn a language later fine enough but that should be up to him.
I am going to look more into this and find out what is going on.

    so sorry

thank our government for this. I have become convinced after reading "Bushwhacked" that this man is a bumbling idiot. A perfect pawn for those that want to destroy this country. I think the mans brain is fried!

Mountaindog.......know how you feel. They were starting that crap with my kids. I just went to every meeting and we put a stop to it. But it continues to be an issue every year.

They say kids pick up languages much easier when they are young but I'm sick of this shoving Spanish down everyones throats. To me it's just a way to start eliminating English. The bi-lingual stuff isn't helping the Spanish to learn English and I'm afraid that's just more time being taken away from our kids on subjects they need to cater and change the nations common language. What about the poor kids from a country that don't speak Spanish and are learning English and now they are confused even more by adding Spanish.....just because the one darned group won't learn English!!!

Don't sell him short. bush knows exactly what he's doing, and has stuck to his agenda like a pro. He's a globalist.

    He's simply a traitor.

    He's a globalist
People keep saying that and I agree. What I don't get is.....people in India etc. are learning English. There's a great demand in China for English teachers. It's been said that English is the language for the business world. Japanese know English. Even people in the Middle East know English. Why then are they shoving Spanish down our throats when it plays no valuable part in the Global situation?

    crazybird,

A strong USA, stands in the Globalist's way. We have to be destroyed as a nation, our sovereignty gone, as has already happened with the EU.

This is a 3 part series. Long, but very worthwhile.

My nephew (when he was in the fourth grade) had to learn a different language as well. He also lives in San Diego. But, thankfully he didn't have to learn Spanish. He was able to choose from Spanish, German and Russian (I think). He chose German.

Maybe the school your grandson goes to offers something besides Spanish as well?
I don't care what you call me, so long as you call me AMERICAN.

I was sort of thinking on that line. Like in the ancient times only the elite could read............a way to keep a seperation of the rich and poor.

I ask this same question the other day. Yes, non-English and non-spanish speaking kids have to learn both languages.

I agree Ladydrake that kids should be given a CHOICE of a foreign language after they've had a few years in school.

Parents need to pay close attention these days as to what their children are being taught in school. I am concerned about what may show up in history books.
