Do Americans Care?

By Dr. Ileana Johnson Paugh (Bio and Archives) Sunday, May 19, 2013

When public virtue is gone, when the national spirit is fled…the republic is lost in essence, though it may still exist in form.” – John Adams to Benjamin Rush, 1808

Do Americans care about what is happening to their country plagued by scandal after scandal, manufactured crisis after manufactured crisis? What scandal, what corruption? If it’s not in the paper, in the main stream media, it must not exist.

Many Americans do care and seem powerless to redress the impasse. Other Americans don’t care at all as long as they have reality TV and sports. If you ask the majority in California, New Mexico, Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina, Illinois, Kentucky, Ohio, New York, and Maine the answer is probably no. What they do care about is voting welfare for a living. These states have more people on welfare than they have people working.

Congressional Research Service found 83 overlapping federal programs [welfare] that spent $1.03 trillion in 2011, the largest single budget item, more than we spent on Social Security, Medicare, or national defense.

The Senate Budget Committee reported that in fiscal year 2011 households below the poverty line received $168 per day in food stamps, housing, child care, WIC, and Medicaid. Since the median income per year for those working is $50,000 per year, about $137.13 a day, it is clear that welfare is more appealing.

As Alexis de Tocqueville said, “Society is endangered not by the great profligacy of a few, but by the laxity of morals amongst all.” Our Constitutional Republic will eventually self-destruct because a majority of its citizens have learned how to obtain generous benefits from the hard-earned income of an ever-shrinking minority, “from the public largesse” of taxpayers. These Americans and illegal aliens have learned rather quickly how to milk the system without working, by voting for the same corrupt politicians who promise to care for them, while keeping them enslaved, low-skilled, and uneducated on welfare, in exchange for a lousy vote.

Do Americans care about the corrupt politicians who are bankrupting the country through out-of-control spending without any accountability to voters? Does it matter that our laws are no longer enforced and our borders are wide open to illegal invasion? Do we care that our sovereignty is sold to the United Nations, piece by piece, treaty by treaty? Do we care how depraved and immoral our society has become, following the narcissistic Hollywood “role models?” Does it matter that our families are destroyed by immoral minorities, our faith attacked and religious rites and traditions forbidden by invading intolerant religions who scream discrimination, hate speech, and racism? Do we care that so many elements of our public and private education have metastasized into a Socialist cancer?

Are we fast becoming Europe, the Europe that Oriana Fallaci described? “Europe is no longer Europe, it is Eurabia, a colony of Islam, where the Islamic invasion does not proceed only in a physical sense, but also in a mental and cultural sense.”

Are the false doctrines of communism and the socialist economy going to prevail because people care more about job security with the state, any job with tenure, insurance, and pension at least until “democracy” is finished with its “useful idiots” who are lulled into a false sense of security?

There is something wrong with our country, a generalized malaise, when no one questions injurious acts and policies committed in its name and is happily self-destructing morally, socially, militarily, and economically.

Can the decay and eventual demise be reversed? If we can stem the tide of the liberal PC police, restore healthy family values to include a mom and dad, control illegal immigration, stem the tide of victimhood and entitlement mentality and replace it with a sound work ethic, wrestle education from the clutches of nefarious educators and administrators bent on fundamentally transforming this country in their twisted vision, if we throw out United Nations, the myriad-barbed octopus that strangles the globe with its third world “programmes,” and all corrupt politicians in Washington, only then the American faith-based family, “borders, English language, and culture” can be reestablished.
