    Question for Alipac

    Have 2 request / questions:

    1. Would it be possible to upgrade the forum to allow sharing a post via shortcut link to Alipac directly from article's website?

This would not only save time from copy and paste, but also would allow posting from a cell phone and tablet.

    2. Update forum to allow posting of an article, video or photo saved on hard drive.

There are many website that block copying or sharing. But you can bypass these security settings by using a number of apps currently available free of charge on the internet.

Copy, convert & download any video on the internet:

    Browser APP:

    Video DownloadHelper 6.2.0

Video DownloadHelper is the most complete tool to extract videos and image files from Web sites and save them to your hard drive.

Just surf the Web as you are used to, when DownloadHelper detects it can do something for you, the toolbar icon highlights and a menu allows you to download files by simply clicking an item.

For instance, if you go to a YouTube page, you'll be able to download the video directly on your file system. It also works with most video sites like DailyMotion, Facebook, Periscope, Vimeo, Twitch, Liveleak, Vine, UStream, Fox, Bloomberg, RAI, France 2-3, Break, Metacafe and thousands others.

Video DownloadHelper supports several types of streamings, making the add-on unique amongst Video downloaders: HTTP, MP2T, F4F, … Whenever a site uses a non-supported streaming technology, Video DownloadHelper is also able to capture directly from the screen and generate a video file out of it.

    Browser Add-ons Extensions:

    Lightshot (screenshot tool) 5.1.1

Lightshot is a tool allowing you to easily make screenshots of any selected area in a browser tab. You just hit Lightshot icon on the toolbar or status bar, then select area you want to make a screenshot from and click “Save” or “Upload to server". In case of uploading you instantly get link to a screenshot you’ve just uploaded.

Well, for one thing I know we can't afford any upgrades right now as there are issues that are long overdue on repairs already in line.

Also, Im not even sure if #1 is possible. The Second one may be possible, but uploading pics and videos to ALIPAC directly could greatly increase the storage space for the site which is already huge and costs over $400 a month to host.

But I will check on it. We may be able to allow uploading under special circumstances.

Believe it was stated prior that short cut link w/o the story penalizes ratings and downgrades the site in search engines...

Saving on one's hard drive becomes your documents - w/o a url, it wont be a clickable link - has to have a fttp, it gives them a url. Videos directly uploaded (need a fttp) would take up a lot of space on this server - no expert but believe that is how it works. There are all kind of cloud storage systems now but are not free.

Some of the publisher's stories have pics that could be avoided really, lot of stock photos for imagery. If they are pertinent, descriptive fine. Pics space is not as large as video space but they are much larger than printed word.

Most websites which block copying do that to prevent theft of the material. Property rights should be respected.

Fox and others do not supply a url for that reason. They want you to view at their site only unless they give permission to others. You will see many fox videos on youtube posted by a youtube member, either they asked for permission or fox does not demand a take down on every video clip. The screen becomes empty if they requested a stop publish stating, copyright infringement - works for content they were told not to go viral with too.
