Denmark Paying Syrian Refugees to Go Home (But They Can Come Back)

Denmark Paying Syrian Refugees to Go Home (But They Can Come Back!)

    11/21/2019 ~ Ann Corcoran

    Invasion of Europe news….

It strikes me that there is a major fly in the expensive ointment! They can return to Denmark if they find they can’t hack it back home.

I sure hope there is a provision that says they must repay the taxpayers of Denmark the money they received to leave should they choose to go back to Denmark.

Syrians protest Denmark’s government earlier this year. Well-trained protesters: Moms, children and English language signs. https://syriadirect.org/news/%E2%80%...danish-policy/

    From The Local:

Denmark pays 71 Syrians to leave country

71 Syrians have been paid since May 1st this year by the Danish state to leave the country and return home, figures from the Danish Refugee Council show.

Each left the country with at least 140,000 kroner paid to them by the Danish state through an incentive scheme introduced under the previous government.

That is about $15,000 US dollars!

None had left the country under the scheme prior to May 1st.

New rules took effect this year, meaning that Syrian refugees who live in Denmark do not immediately lose their right to residence if they return home.

They now have up to a year in which they can change their minds about the decision. The addition of this clause has encouraged people to take up the option, according to the Danish Refugee Council (DRC).
    [….]

“Many people simply feel that it is too difficult to enter the jobs market and get established in Denmark,” the council’s head of asylum Eva Singer told Kristeligt Dagblad.

“The money makes a difference to their considerations but also means thay can change their minds if Syria turns out to be too dangerous,” Singer added.

Syrians are not the only nationality encompassed by the incentive programme.

During the first ten months of this year, 438 refugees and migrants left Denmark with such a payment from the state.

The Ministry of Immigration and Integration told Kristeligt Dagblad that it expects to spend 102 million kroner this year paying refugees to return home.

    More here.

I once suggested we consider such a payment plan for certain migrants to America, but many of my readers screamed bloody murder and suggested we simply deport them!

Of course the obvious flaw in Denmark’s plan is the escape clause which allows them to return to Denmark within the year if they don’t like it at home.

I have an extensive ‘Invasion of Europe’ archive going back at least ten years, but alas have not added to it lately, not because there isn’t enough news (the invasion continues), but for lack of time.

Better not give those swamp rats any ideas of starting up this extortion program!

They came to our countries with nothing and they can go home with nothing.

They have their own OIL to pay for them! Take over the oil, start pumping it out, pay us all back their costs, and use the oil money to get them to rebuild villages and open businesses and put them to work. Get them out.

All these "refugees" need to be sent home and fight their own battles and fix their own countries like we have.

So they "go home", blow the money and can come back to Denmark for more dough???

If it is "safe" to give them the money and go home to Syria then just send them all the hell back in the first place!

Like it is not safe to send DACA back, but they want to go home and VISIT their relatives on their vacations? What a joke!

"From the tropical shores of Honolulu and Puerto Rico, to the badlands of Utah and backwaters of Louisiana, the Big Apple has sent local homeless families to 373 cities across the country with a full year of rent in their pockets."

The European countries that pay migrants the most to go home

By Aamna Mohdin January 15, 2018

Germany’s offer to pay rejected asylum seekers up to €1,000 ($1226) for individuals and €3,000 for families, to go home sparked condemnation and praise. But Europe’s economic powerhouse, which took in one million refugees in 2015, is by no means the first or only European country to take this approach.

A combination of the European commission’s 2015 report (pdf) on cash offered for migrants who voluntarily return home and updated government policies reveal that Sweden—offering individuals up to €3050 in cash and families €7620—had the most generous offer in the European Union (EU). Spain and UK come in joint-second place, offering migrants a cash payment of €2,000. Finland was in third place, offering individual migrants €1,500.

These cash payments are far from static. In 2016, France temporarily increased (link in French) the amount of cash it gives to migrants from €650 to €2,500.

Eastern European countries, such as Slovakia, Bulgaria, Latvia, Romania, offered some of the smallest amount of cash payments. But it was Portugal, offering just “€50 pocket money to cover any other expenses related to the journey,” to migrants interested in returning home that came in last place. Still, it was better than other EU member states, such as the Czech Republic, that didn’t offer cash payments at all.

However, even those who didn’t offer cash payments often still provided some form of in-kind assistance once migrants returned to their country of origin (as well as paying for the flights home).

The assistance ranged from medical care, accommodation, education, a business start-up grant or loan, equipment or furniture, or on the job training.

In Germany, migrants who voluntarily returned to their home country were offered subsidized housing for a year—to help pay rent, home renovations, or get basic equipment for a kitchen or a bathroom.

Last year, the European Commission warned that the disparities in what migrants are offered to return home will tempt migrants to hop around for the best deal. The Commission called for cash payments and in-kind assistance to be consistent across the bloc.
