FBI To Raise Awareness About Human Trafficking
http://www.wral.com/apncnews/6429748/detail.html
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte's F-B-I office estimates that thousands of people are trafficked into North Carolina each year for forced labor and prostitution, and it wants to do more to raise awareness about the issue.
The F-B-I is teaming up with local advocacy groups and social organizations to get a message out that federal agents should be trusted and not feared.
Special agent Kevin Kendrick says the agency is looking to assist all victims of human trafficking, even if they're living in the country illegally. Kendrick says the F-B-I not only will protect victims and their rights, but also will help them remain permanently.
The bureau says between 20,000 and 50,000 victims are trafficked into the United States each year to be exploited for use in factories, migrant farm work, construction, domestic work and prostitution.
