Liberal Democrats win on illegal immigration

    9:07 p.m. EST March 5, 2015

The liberal Democrats in Congress, led by Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, have triumphed. Their policy that the protection of illegal immigrants is more important than the protection of American citizens has been enacted by Congress, even though a majority of both houses originally voted against it.

The liberal Democrats have demonstrated that they are the most unyielding and rigidly ideological force in Congress. They were willing to let the Department of Homeland Security go without funding indefinitely until they could win permission for Obama’s illegal amnesty program. Their stand was very simple — absolutely no compromise, ever.

Astonishingly, it is only conservative Republicans who are being accused of holding firmly to their positions and refusing to compromise.

The lesson from this battle should be clear to all. If the Republican majority in Congress is to govern, it must refuse to yield to the obstructionist liberal minority. If the election victory of 2014 is to have any meaning, the Republican leadership must prove that it can out wait and outlast the Democratic leadership.

The House Judiciary Committee is passing 4 immigration control and enforcement bills out of the committee. Some have already passed and others will be up for committee votes soon, so they'll be on floor of the House, voted on, I'm sure they will all pass, and be forwarded to the US Senate, and one bill, Trey Gowdy's bill prohibits the Obama Amnesty actions. So, it's not over yet and maybe this time, we can gain the support of at least 6 Blue Dog Democrats who want to enforce US immigration law, stop this nonsense, restrain this or any other President, and authorize states and local law enforcement to enforce US immigration law, in the same manner as they enforce US drug and other federal laws.

The Democrats won on the DHS funding, and it's outrageous we are funding this Department that has failed to control immigration, failed to enforce our laws, and is openly refusing to do either one and has actually subverted the laws with schemes and plots in a "shadow" scheme to to legalize millions of illegal aliens with work authorizations and residency permits in direct violation of the immigration caps set by Congress.

However, there is a chance that with some Democrats who support American citizens to whom they are as responsible as Republicans, will support these bills and get them to the desk of the President. Will there be enough votes to over-ride an anticipated veto? Depends on the Democrats calling their Representatives and Senators and telling them they want this madness brought to an end.

Judy, I received an email from Jeff Denham that had the following lines in it that made me so mad.

"The House, Senate and President won’t be able to ignore the influx of American citizens demanding accountability and transparency for our nation’s rail system. Show your support for PRRIA by becoming a citizen co-sponsor of my bill today.
Make sure this important bipartisan reform gets a vote in the Senate and signed into law by the President."

I sent a response telling him that I could not believe or trust anything he said. That he supports illegal immigrants, not American citizens. That he , the House, Senate or President had ignored what American citizens had been demanding at the last election. I sure did not get an email asking for my support or opinion on any bill stopping Obama's amnesty.

It's infuriating, MonterreySherry, how completely out of touch they are with the American Voters who sent them there. Heck, I didn't even know there was such a thing as a "citizen co-sponsor" of a bill in Congress! Wow, would that have been helpful on H. 240, the DHS Funding Bill with the immigration riders. They wouldn't have computer space big enough to store the list of citizens supporting defunding Obama Amnesty! No I bet you didn't get a response, but you told him off good, and I'm proud of you! These Congress members must know how we feel. They think deep down we'll forget, or overlook, but in 2016, they're in for a big wake up call.

I'm far from giving up the fight, however, I don't see anything getting through Obama that will improve our situation on illegal immigration and border security. Right now it appears we will be on defense until 2016. Owning both houses of the U.S. Congress doesn't appear to give us the boost we had hoped for. Of course the large number of RINOs we have floating around in both houses isn't helping our cause.

IMO, about the best we can hope for right now is that the courts stop Obama's plan to legalize 5 million illegals. We're far from defeated, but it does seem like we're stuck playing defense until Obama is gone. As any ball fan knows, defense is always a very important part of the game.

I agree that it looks bleak. Like I've posted before, it's going to be a long 2 years, because to stop this disaster we need 6 more GOP Senators and 1 Loyal President. The best shot we had at stopping Obama Amnesty was defunding DHS, because the history of the US Supreme Court has been disastrous on immigration issues.

But if Greg Abbott gets this done and does stop Obama Amnesty, then he's the "dark horse" we seek.

    Good rhetoric, bad analysis.

The Repub ledership did not cave in to intransigent Demos. That leadership used the Demos as cover for giving the leadership's big money donors the additional surplus labor that those donors covet.

IMO most Americans do not pay close attention to some issues, which makes it easy for career politicos to manipulate them. This is one of those issues. Americans may prefer enforcement, but when the mainstream media transmit the cave-in message, it's difficult for people to get to the truth.
