FEDS TRY TO CLOSE THE OCEAN BECAUSE OF SHUTDOWN

FEDS TRY TO CLOSE THE OCEAN BECAUSE OF SHUTDOWN

Just before the weekend, the National Park Service informed charter boat captains in Florida that the Florida Bay was "closed" due to the shutdown. Until government funding is restored, the fishing boats are prohibited from taking anglers into 1,100 square-miles of open ocean. Fishing is also prohibited at Biscayne National Park during the shutdown.

The Park Service will also have rangers on duty to police the ban. Of access to an ocean. The government will probably use more personnel and spend more resources to attempt to close the ocean, than it would in its normal course of business.
This is governing by temper-tantrum. It is on par with the government's ham-fisted attempts to close the DC WWII Memorial, an open-air public monument that is normally accessible 24 hours a day. By accessible I mean, you walk up to it. When you have finished reflecting, you then walk away from it.
At least that Memorial is an actual structure, with some kind of perimeter that can be fenced off. Florida Bay is the ocean. How, pray tell, do you "close" 1,100 square miles of ocean? Why would one even need to do so?
Apparently, according to an anonymous Park Service ranger, “We’ve been told to make life as difficult for people as we can. It’s disgusting.”
Centuries ago, King Canute famously failed to command the ocean tide to stop. His display was actually a means to educate his subjects on the limits of royal power. Today, however, our President actually believes he has the power to control the oceans.

Obama Admin Closes Part Of Ocean Due To Govt. Shutdown

Since the government shutdown, the Obama administration has been criticized by many on the right for “unnecessary” shut downs to “inflict the maximum public pain”.

As reported by Breitbart News, “While our president still enjoys his essential employees and locations: the White House chefs, Camp David, and a military golf course, there doesn’t seem to be any question that in mercenary pursuit of a political win, this White House is determined to unreasonably punish as many everyday people as possible.”

Since Monday night, the Obama administration has forced the shut down of the World War II memorial, the Vietnam memorial, and over 100 privately funded parks.

Most recently, on Day Three of the government shutdown, the feds are attempting to shut down the ocean in areas off the coast of Florida.

According to the Miami Herald, “Charter guides received a message from the National Park Service this week informing them that they are not permitted to take clients fishing in Florida Bay until the feds get back to work. That means that more than 1,100 square miles of prime fishing is off limits between the southern tip of the mainland to the Keys until further notice.

The closing affects not only fishing guides, but anyone with a license to conduct business in the park, including tour operators and paddling guides — anyone with a Commercial Use Authorization permit, said Dan Kimball, superintendent of Everglades and Dry Tortugas national parks. Biscayne National Park is also off limits.”

Enforcement rangers from the National Park Service will be on duty to enforce the ocean “shutdown” in Florida. One unidentified National Park Service Ranger reportedly said, “It’s a cheap way to deal with the situation. We’ve been told to make life as difficult for people as we can. It’s disgusting.”

Breitbart News points out that more staff and money might be needed to enforce the new restrictions than would have been used normally.

If more workers and resources are indeed needed to enforce the shutdown than when the government is operating normally, what is the point of closing down parts of the ocean? Is it possible that the Obama administration is simply shutting down the parts of the ocean to “make the public feel the burn,” as asserted by Conservative blogger Doug Powers?

If you are close to a rest stop on an interstate and are able to, please host a BBQ in your local area during the Truckers Ride For The Constitution event. Please support the truckers who serve as this nation's backbone. We will also be out on the overpasses again raising as much awareness as possible. Even if you cannot attend, please share this post to show your your support for Truckers Ride Fo...r The Constitution and The Modern American Revolution. Thanks to everyone who has built the massive amount of support for this event. It looks like this event should be even bigger than the biker rally in D.C. a couple of weeks ago.

Donations for grill equipment, food, beverages, etc for the BBQ's can be made here: https://rally.org/modernamericanrevolution

Fuel donations for the truckers may be made on their main site: http://ridefortheconstitution.org/tr...y-information/

    We'll see everyone Oct 11th-13th!
