Protesters displaying Mexican flags staged an anti-Donald Trump rally in the San Fernando Valley Sunday.

The protesters, most of them in vehicles, gathered about 11:30 a.m. in the area of Van Nuys Boulevard and Blythe
Street in Panorama City and by early afternoon had made their way to the Hansen Dam area in Pacoima, according
to the Los Angeles Police Department.

California Highway Patrol officers briefly closed offramps from the Foothill (210) Freeway near the Foothill Boulevard
in Lake View Terrace due to congestion issues.

The front-runner for the Republican party’s nomination for the November presidential election, Trump incurred anger
among some residents when he said on the campaign trail that a percentage of illegal immigrants from Mexico are
violent criminals.

He has also promised to build a wall along the southern U.S. land border and compel Mexico to pay for it.

Unlike recent protests targeting Trump campaign appearances in the Midwest, today’s rally was peaceful and no arrests
were made, LAPD Officer Rosario Herrera said.

“I want to send a message,” protest participant Maria Galvan told ABC7. “It’s necessary to vote. You have to register
and later to vote, to get Trump out of there.”
