Fox News Discovers ISIS Scheme To Send Terrorists to US Thru Mexican Border

Fox news just issued a stunning report about a foiled scheme by ISIS to use westerners to penetrate the southern border and attack America.
Specifically, the target was the financial sector in New York City. Fox has an eye-witness to the plot, one of the accused terrorists, a Canadian, who as recruited for the scheme.
Seems the guy went to Syria to join ISIS but they wanted to redirect him to sneak into America and launch an attack. Wow.
From Fox News: A chilling confession from a captured ISIS fighter has shed light on how the terrorist group intended to exploit the vulnerabilities of the U.S. border with Mexico, using English speakers and westerners to take advantage of smuggling routes and target financial institutions.
Seized ISIS fighter Abu Henricki, a Canadian citizen with dual citizenship with Trinidad, last month said that he was sought out by the violent insurgency’s leadership to attack the U.S. from a route starting in Central America, according to a study by the International Center for the Study of Violent Extremism (ICSVE) and published in Homeland Security Today.
“ISIS has organized plots in Europe with returnees so it seems entirely plausible that they wanted to send guys out to attack. The issue that makes a North American attack harder is the travel is more difficult from Syria,” Anne Speckhard, who co-conducted the study as the director of ICSVE and Adjunct Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Georgetown University, told Fox News. “So the idea that they would instead use people who were not known to their own governments as having joined ISIS might make it possible for them to board airplanes.”
Henricki allegedly traveled to Syria with the intention of serving as an ISIS fighter, but was later told he could not take on soldier duties due to a chronic illness. At the end of 2016, he claimed to have been “invited” by the ISIS intelligence wing – known as the emni – to join other Trinidadians and launch financial attacks on the U.S.
The attacks were described to Henricki as designed to “cripple the U.S. economy,” and he was said to have been informed that he would be issued false identification and passports and would be maneuvered from Puerto Rico to Mexico and then to the United States.
“The plan came from someone from the New Jersey state of America. I was going to take the boat from Puerto Rico into Mexico. He was going to smuggle me in,” the ISIS cadre continued.
He further elaborated that he believed the scheme was aimed at New York financial targets.
“They wanted to use these people (to attack inside the U.S.) because they were from these areas,” Henricki told the scholars, indicating that they were either from North America or were English speakers.
He underscored that other Trinidadians, many of whom have been killed in the protracted mayhem over the past several years, were also approached to “do the same thing.”
However, Henricki then claimed he refused the mission and was subsequently thrown into an ISIS prison in Manbij and brutally tortured. His wife, also a Canadian, was also imprisoned in a women’s department and endured psychological torture.
“This plot is likely dead as those who were pressured to join it are according to Abu Henricki now all dead and ISIS is in retreat as we know,” Speckhard said. “That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t disregard that it was a plot. We should take thoughtful steps to prevent.
“We often hear about terrorists trying to enter the southern border in political debate, but I rarely have come across a real case. It surprised me to hear this was a real plot by ISIS to exploit our southern border. That’s concerning of course.”

ISIS Planned To Send Western Operatives Across Mexican Border To Attack US

"...it wouldn't be a huge stretch for them to get an American to get a job at a bank and then sabotage it."

National security "experts" scoffed when President Trump insinuated that ISIS-backed terrorists might find their way across the southern border with Mexico to plan attacks inside the US. But as it turns out, the transnationl terror organization had been planning one such attack, according to a chilling confession from one captured fighter, according to a study published Thursday by Homeland Security Today.

Seized ISIS fighter Abu Henricki, a Canadian citizen with dual citizenship with Trinidad, last month said that he was sought out by the violent insurgency’s leadership to attack the U.S. from a route starting in Central America, according to Fox News.

In a chilling confession from a captured ISIS fighter who held dual citizenship with Canada and Trinidad, the group had been planning to send English speakers and westerners to sneak into the US via these smuggling routes, then target local financial centers.
"ISIS has organized plots in Europe with returnees so it seems entirely plausible that they wanted to send guys out to attack. The issue that makes a North American attack harder is the travel is more difficult from Syria," said Anne Speckhard, who co-conducted the study as the director of ICSVE and Adjunct Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Georgetown University. "So the idea that they would instead use people who were not known to their own governments as having joined ISIS might make it possible for them to board airplanes."
Henricki said he traveled to Syria with the intention of serving as an ISIS fighter, but was later told he could not take on soldier duties because of a chronic illness. In late 2016, Henricki claimed to have been "invited" by the ISIS intelligence wing, known as the emni, to join other Trinidadians and launch financial attacks on the US.
The attacks were described to Henricki as designed to "cripple the U.S. economy," and he was said to have been informed that he would be issued false identification and passports and would be maneuvered from Puerto Rico to Mexico and then to the United States.
"The plan came from someone from the New Jersey state of America. I was going to take the boat from Puerto Rico into Mexico. He was going to smuggle me in," the ISIS cadre continued.
He further elaborated that he believed the scheme was aimed at New York financial targets.
"They wanted to use these people (to attack inside the U.S.) because they were from these areas," Henricki told the scholars, indicating that they were either from North America or were English speakers.
Henricki added that many other Trinidadians, who where ultimately killed in the fighting, were enlisted to do the same thing. However, Henricki then claimed he refused the mission and was subsequently thrown into an ISIS prison in Manbij where he was brutally tortured. His wife, also a Canadian, was imprisoned in a women’s prison where she endured psychological torture. The plot has likely been scrapped, according to the report's authors, as those who had been recruited are probably now dead.
"This plot is likely dead as those who were pressured to join it are according to Abu Henricki now all dead and ISIS is in retreat as we know," Speckhard said. "That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t disregard that it was a plot. We should take thoughtful steps to prevent."
"We often hear about terrorists trying to enter the southern border in political debate, but I rarely have come across a real case. It surprised me to hear this was a real plot by ISIS to exploit our southern border. That’s concerning of course."
What's more amazing is the fact that more of these types of insider-focused attacks haven't been perpetrated already.

"Even better, however, is to get someone inside the actual company to attack its network from behind the firewall. That is much easier to carry out than a cyber attack from outside of the network, and this type of 'insider threat' is a major problem already for US companies," he explained. "An employee knows everything about his or her company, and what its strengths and weaknesses are. This type of person would be very effective at exploiting a corporate network and causing massive amounts of damage. What is really surprising is that terrorist groups have not already used US employees to attack their own companies."
For example, ISIS could recruit an American to get a job at a bank and then...bring it down.
Hamerstone pointed out that terrorist groups like ISIS have been able to recruit Americans and people in the U.K. to go to their training camps, "so it wouldn't be a huge stretch for them to get an American to get a job at a bank and then sabotage it."
"Think about what an insider in IT aligned with terrorists could do," he noted. "What's really scary to think about is that an insider can do almost anything to a company. There are very few limits on the type of damage a rogue employee could cause."
The bottom line: An ISIS-organized attack using seemingly innocuous English speaking operatives shouldn't be ruled out...

...But that doesn't mean Democrats will stop pretending there isn't a crisis at the border.

ISIS Border Plot Uncovered as 144,000 Migrants Flood US: 'We Are in a Full-Blown Emergency'

WASHINGTON – Mexican officials are back at the State Department trying to stave off President Trump's threat of tariffs. This comes as America's border agents face a historic influx of migrants.
Despite the president's stepped-up enforcement at the border, arrests have nearly doubled over this point last year. "We are in a full-blown emergency, and I cannot say this stronger: the system is broken," says John Sanders, acting commissioner of US Customs and Border Protection.
Last month alone, agents apprehended more than 144,000 migrants, marking a 13-year high in attempted border crossings.

There's no end in sight. A group of migrants from Honduras is currently making its way through Mexico towards the US. One man in the group says he's leaving his country because life is very difficult there. Another says the group was allowed to pass through Mexico because it's peaceful.
"They shouldn't be able to walk through Mexico...that's really an invasion without the guns," President Trump told Fox News in an interview.
Now reports indicate ISIS is eyeing America's southern border. "Homeland Security Today" uncovered at least one plot to send ISIS fighters from Syria to the US by way of migrant routes across the nation's porous border with Mexico.
"The time has come for Mexico to do more to stem the tide of illegal immigrants," Vice President Mike Pence told reporters.
Mexico has offered to deploy thousands of national guard troops to its border with Guatemala to help control the flow of migrants, but US officials say that's not enough."The Hill" reports the president is ready to declare a national emergency so he can impose major new tariffs on Mexico – a move that will likely face legal challenges.
The president plans to levy a five-percent tariff on all Mexican goods starting Monday to force Mexico to stop the flood of migrants coming through their country to the US border. The tariff would increase an additional five percent each month, maxing out at 25 percent this fall if a deal isn't reached.
That's making Mexican farmers and manufacturers nervous and uniting Democrats and Republicans who fear economic repercussions here in the US.
"I'm afraid it might endanger some American jobs," says Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA).

"It's not a way to deal with Immigration," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) told reporters.
President Trump says he's forced to take action because Congress is unwilling to address immigration calling the politics of it all a "vicious business."

ISIS plotted to smuggle English-speaking terrorists through the Mexican border to carry out a financial attack that would “cripple” the US economy, according to a new report.

Details of the terror group’s failed plan to exploit the southern border emerged in a confession last month from one recruit, Abu Henricki, who ultimately refused to go along with the mission.
“They were going to move me to the Mexican side [of the US southern border] via Puerto Rico. This was mastermind[ed] by a guy in America. Where he is, I do not know,” Henricki admitted to the International Center for the Study of Violent Extremism. “That information, the plan came from someone from the New Jersey state from America. I was going to take a boat [from Puerto Rico] into Mexico. He was going to smuggle me in.”
In the 90-minute interview on May 12, Henricki said he was enlisted to join ISIS by its intelligence wing, known as the emni, in 2016.
“What they wanted to do, basically, is they wanted to do financial attacks. Financial attacks to cripple the [US] economy,” Henricki said in the interview published by Homeland Security Today.
“They have their system of doing it,” the dual Canadian-Trinidadian citizen added. “It wasn’t me alone. They were sending you to Puerto Rico and from Puerto Rico [to Mexico].”
Henricki said he was booted from ISIS and thrown into a prison where he was tortured because he refused to carry out the plot.
“Please be advised, I was not willing to do it,” he said. “But this is one of their wicked, one of the plans that they had and which I would like to think I foiled the plan by not being part of it.”
Henricki said he wasn’t privy to specific details about the planned attack but that it was clear people were carefully recruited for the purported attack.
“They wanted to use these people [to attack within the US] because they were from these areas,” he explained, referring to English speakers from North America.
