Latino Groups Take Obama to Task for Record Deportations
Latino Groups Take Obama to Task for Record Deportations
Latin Trends, News Report, Posted: Apr 03, 2014
Several Latino groups are launching a new campaign aimed at holding President Obama accountable for the record number of immigrants who have been deported under his administration. The campaign, called the “Obama Legacy Project,” is calling on Obama to take action on immigration reform and put an end to deportations. Among the organizations involved in the campaign are Presente.org, Center for Constitutional Rights, National Alliance of Latin American and Caribbean Communities, Detention Watch Network, and Raza Youth Collective.
“Obama’s legacy on immigration is at a tipping point,” said Roberto Lovato, co-founder of Presente.org, a Latino online advocacy organization. “Either he starts to take action ending deportations now, or he will be forever remembered by Latinos not only as the deporter-in-chief but as the worst President in history on immigration.”
