    Fox News Poll: Most don't think Founding Fathers would be proud of nation

    Over the Fourth of July, Americans will celebrate our country’s independence by going to the beach, firing up the grill and shooting off fireworks.

    But are they proud of the nation they are honoring? The latest Fox News Poll asked.

    Just over half, 51 percent, are proud of the United States today. That number held steady since last June (50 percent), but it’s down from a high of 69 percent in 2011.

    Forty-five percent of voters are not proud.

    By a 25-point margin, Republicans (64 percent) are more likely than Democrats (39 percent) to say they’re proud. Independents split: 50 percent proud vs. 46 percent not.

    How would the Founding Fathers feel? A record 79 percent of voters think if Washington, Jefferson, and the rest were alive today, they wouldn’t be too thrilled. Large majorities across the political spectrum feel that way, including 83 percent of independents, 80 percent of Republicans, and 78 percent of Democrats.

    Additionally, 50 percent think life for the next generation of Americans will be worse than life today. It was 43 percent last September, but 61 percent in September 2014 and October 2010. Democrats (64 percent), non-whites (61 percent), and women (54 percent) are among those most likely to feel that way.

    Overall, 40 percent think life for the next generation will be better.

    Meanwhile, 64 percent of voters are optimistic about the economy right now, while one-third is pessimistic (32 percent). Key Republican constituencies are among those feeling the most positive, as large numbers of white evangelicals (78 percent), whites without a college degree (71 percent), and men (69 percent) all feel at least somewhat optimistic.

    “For decades, the party of the president has been a bigger predictor of which voters feel good about the economy than individuals’ economic situations,” says Democratic pollster Chris Anderson who conducts the Fox News Poll along with Republican Daron Shaw. “When Barack Obama was president, Democrats were more positive about economic conditions. Now Republicans are. This isn’t because Republicans’ individual financial situations have improved and Democrats haven’t.”

    President Trump receives his highest marks on the economy (48 percent approve vs. 43 percent disapprove). He also gets a positive job rating for his handling of terrorism (48-45 percent).

    Voters rate him lower on foreign policy (41 percent approve vs. 52 percent disapprove) and health care (36-55 percent).

    The Fox News poll is based on landline and cellphone interviews with 1,017 randomly chosen registered voters nationwide and was conducted under the joint direction of Anderson Robbins Research (D) and Shaw & Company Research (R) from June 25-27, 2017. The poll has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus three percentage points for all registered voters.

    I am very proud of our country, because I am very proud of our citizens. Yes, I wail and rant about certain issues such as illegal immigration, excess legal immigration, bad trade deals, federal income tax, Clueless Congresscritters, and a few other things here and there. But all of these issues are government issues, government not enforcing our laws, Clueless Congresscritters approving bad trade deals that suck our jobs and money out of the country, and a federal income tax system that doesn't pay the bills, runs up the debt, stifles business and industry and punishes people who work hard and earn their livelihoods.

    We have a lot of work to do to fix what government has done to this nation, but this nation is not the government, it is our physical territory and our citizens. We didn't mess up our country, our government did. In most countries that would be the end of it, because of the power of government in their countries. In our country, citizens not only decide what happens here, we control what happens here. Sometimes, as citizens we fall asleep at the wheel, and that's what happened to the United States. Too many people didn't pay close enough attention to the harm of income taxes, the betrayal of illegal immigration and excess legal immigration, the treason of government inspired bad trade deals and a Congress incompetent to represent and protect our interests.

    Even though we dosed off there for a couple of decades, people are awake now. That's why Donald Trump was elected our President, against all odds, polls, predictions and many expectations. Americans of 2016 did what no other group of Americans has ever done, they elected a person President who had never before served in a government, military or elected capacity anywhere at any time. Donald Trump walked straight out of Trump Tower and the golden world of high finance and high-rise real estate developments into the White House and took charge.

    He told the MSM to get lost, fired Comey, withdrew from the Paris Accord, banned terrorist travel, told industry expand here or be hit with tariffs, told China reduce the trade deficits and stop currency manipulation, told NATO to pay up or we'll think twice, told Syria no more chemical weapons and showed them he meant it, told Congress repeal Obamacare or lose your seats, told sanctuary cities stop it or lose your grants, told illegal aliens your days here are over, approved the pipelines, deregulated, appointed a voter fraud commission, negotiated hundreds of billions of dollars in overseas contracts for US producers, created trillions of dollars of new wealth through the stock markets, fixed the VA, started the border wall project, raided Al-Qaeda in Yemen, kicked ISIS butt in Iraq, told Cuba you've got to do more, told the Gulf States terrorism has to end and you are the ones to end it, and so much more that's too much to list in a post. In 5 months, this President of the People of the United States has stopped a runaway train to hell and turned it around. Donald Trump has saved our country because the American People chose to survive and revive instead of ride the dive to the depths of loss.

    So, I've never been more proud of our nation of citizens this July 4th. We did what all thought was impossible on November 8th, and our chosen President has done what no one thought could or would be done. Even on the field of common ground, because we are a nation of free-will individuals, there will be disagreements and differing points of view on how, when or by whom something should be done, but so long as everyone is on the same track with the same overall objective, those details will resolve in due course.

    So, to whom do we owe this magnificent time in our nation? We owe it all to the Founding Fathers who devised a Constitution with an Electoral College System to elect our Presidents. But for that gift from them, we would still be in a dive to defeat instead of on a train to revival.

    So this July 4th, I believe the Founding Fathers would be proud as punch of our country and the Miracle of 2016 while giving themselves a richly-deserved slap on the back for a Constitution that saved the nation they created.

    I bet a large chunk of those people who voted in this poll are illegal aliens and the people who support them. They're pissed because we're trying to stop the illegal invasion of our country, and rightly so.

    We're a nation that was founded by principled revolutionaries who took on the super power of their day over almost insignificant taxes they felt Britain had no right to levy. These men were small government fanatics who felt very comfortable with God, guns, and taking care of themselves. The principles those men put in place and the standards they set were what helped turn America into the most successful nation that has ever existed on God's green earth.

    In order to be fair, it's worth noting that in some respects, we've done a better job of fulfilling the vision of the Founding Fathers than they were able to accomplish in their lifetimes. We got rid of slavery, became the world's only superpower, and delivered a level of economic prosperity that wasn't even dreamed of when men like Ben Franklin, John Hancock, and George Washington roamed the earth.

    In a time when it's commonplace to hear intelligent people speculating privately about how long it's going to be before America experiences a debt-driven economic crash that the country may NEVER recover from, it's worth considering how far off the rails we've gone from what the Founding Fathers originally wanted and intended for this nation. For all of our success, many things that Americans unquestioningly accept today would have been considered intolerable to the Founding Fathers.

    1) Not just 15% of Americans being on food stamps, but the existence of a food stamp program.

    2) Forcing Americans to buy health insurance via Obamacare as a condition of American citizenship.

    3) Members of Congress voting on bills that they haven't read.

    4) The Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade decision, not so much because the Founding Fathers would oppose abortion, although they would, but because the Court is unconstitutionally taking power away from each state to make its own decision.

    5) The federal government taxing states and then using that money to blackmail the states into doing what the Feds want to get their own money back.

    6) The average government workers making more than the average citizens paying their taxes.

    7) In 2010, the average net worth of a senator was 13 million dollars while the net worth of the average American family was $77,300.

    A permanent income tax.

    9) Expelling children from government schools for playing with toy guns on their own property.

    10) Having TSA agents putting their hands on people's crotches and sticking their fingers inside people's pants at the airports.

    11) Having the NSA collect the phone records and emails of hundreds of millions of law abiding Americans.

    12) Having Christian prayers, the Ten Commandments, and mentions of God banned in schoolhouses and on government property.
    and last but not least....

    The fact that snooty Brit Piers Morgan is lecturing Americans on TV. Patrick Henry would tell him to shove his fish and chips where the sun doesn't shine.
